Having been going for years any connection on the course is still shocking. Does anyone know which phone service providers have the most consistent signal?

I recall reading at some point last year that this year a number of big online firms were going to be funding the dogs b*ll*x of a Wi-Fi hub as that is obviously of benefit to them. Makes complete senses, however it is probably a unique concentration in terms of use as prior to each race there are going to be 10'000+ or so trying to hit on for a connection.

I was at trials day and I am with EE. Best connection I have ever had there. Can't see it being as good come the festival but we can live in hope I guess

EE. Orange & T-mob merged so biggest network

The WIFI is much improved & I've used it at all the Cheltenham meetings this season. What it will be like in March then who knows. You can only access certain betting sites when using this though.
Report Rathgorman82 January 28, 2015 11:53 AM GMT
bigben - Which ones couldn't you get on ?
Report Harvester January 28, 2015 12:04 PM GMT
I was at the Open fixture and New Year's Day and thought the wifi was not great... took ages to get on to betfair and more often than not it just timed out.
Report bigben January 28, 2015 1:19 PM GMT
I can't really remember what you can't use apart from Oddschecker. You can access Betfair & 365.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 January 28, 2015 1:53 PM GMT
Why cant you use oddschecker on course? Surely if you have an able mobile device or tablet to hand with a sim card you can access any site using your own networks data usageConfused

Having said that like whenever i've been to any tracks ive always found it difficult to even use my mobile to make a call making me think there was some sort of block in place that the racecourse has put in place using a mast of some kind. Then thought maybe that i was trying to use an ancient phone and it could have been the fault of the device hence my above comment.

Middle of course Cheltenham never any problem.
Report onehundredandeighty January 28, 2015 5:45 PM GMT
Oddschecker nowadays you have to have your location settings on or else they won't let you access the site.
Back to my original question tho and looks like EE it is then.Im using O2 at the mo and at trials day it was shocking.Problem is of course that you can generally get 12s on Betfair something that's 8's on all the boards in the ring so why should we have to accept under the odds all because the internet is shoite. To be fair it ain't neccessarily the courses fault but why not put some bloody great masts on top of the new stand they're building? At £80 a poke or so to get in members then its either lower the price or keep the paying public happy

I'm on EE and have 4G and From recollection connection was generally better at last years festival. Not brilliant especially close to race time but usable.
Report jasey January 28, 2015 10:50 PM GMT
I was in tatts a Xmas meeting and had no problem outside
EE network
Report Arklearkle January 28, 2015 10:55 PM GMT
The festival is different and GC day is something else when even a text message becomes nigh impossible. There was an improvement last year but not much
Report CVByrne January 28, 2015 11:04 PM GMT
I go to the fesitval every year and it's like an internet blackout. It's atrocious.
Report CVByrne January 28, 2015 11:05 PM GMT
WiFi is worst than trying to use your phone signal. To be honest it's an utter disgrace.
Report CJ January 28, 2015 11:57 PM GMT
Confirm previous post about EE. Was a fantastic 4G signal @Trials day, i hope it's the same at the Festival.

For the record, frend was on Vodaphone and could not use his 4G phone.

Anyone got experience from Bezzie Mate enclosure ?
Upgraded from my Del-Boy phone this year in the hope of using on course. However, most of my bets are usually on for the day in advance, but I play the longer priced stuff on Tote, especially the handicaps which can be very rewarding. Medinas, You're Special and Something Wells, oh yes !! :)
Report charlieptl January 29, 2015 10:01 AM GMT
Why are people comparing their service on trials day with expected service at festival. Thousands more people so completely redundant point
Report jasey January 29, 2015 2:40 PM GMT
Rathergorman I would not advise that,I have never ever got a signal in Best m8 at festival
Was bit better last year in Tatts, still waiting ages for pages to load and apps to open
Report bluebirdfan January 29, 2015 2:47 PM GMT
EE 4G last festival was superb in the members areas, not sure what it would be like amongst a larger number of people in the general enclosures
Report eastayrshire January 29, 2015 4:18 PM GMT
Got a decent signal and surprising throughput at last years festival in best mate, esp early on, intermittent throughout the day though but was def able to get a bet on.
Report Rathgorman82 January 29, 2015 4:32 PM GMT
As a last resort there's always text betting available with Hills and Power, ultimately the same end result !
Report onehundredandeighty January 29, 2015 6:16 PM GMT
Charlieptl.....my point or question originally is that whatever was cack on trials day is obvs going to be poo at the festival and so which were the best just to get an angle that's all dude but understand what you mean
Report biffarama February 1, 2015 7:35 PM GMT
jockeyclub wifi was good, just cant use WH through it as not a partner
Report tipptop February 3, 2015 5:10 AM GMT
used jockey club wifi at last years festival and thought it was very good. Was only using 365 and betfair but great signal throughout even for betting in running on bf. Friends of mine had some trouble with it as they had iphone 4S. i had a 5 and was told the newer your phone the better the wifi will be.
Report Rathgorman82 February 3, 2015 11:46 AM GMT
What is Jockey Club Wi-Fi ? Do you have to pay for it ?
Report bigben February 3, 2015 4:31 PM GMT
