A group of us are fed up with extortionate Hotels restaurants and ticketing prices at Festival time so have decided to fly out to Spain for the week.  We fly into Malaga and are thinking of basing ourselves at Torre De Mar for the week. Are there any expats or others with a similar idea who know a bar/Hotel where we can watch the racing.
There have been ads in RP in previous years but not seen one for a while

Booking somewhere away for the festival without checking with certainty that you will be able to watch and bet on the races with ease sounds crazy to me. There must be answers online pal

To be honest we only booked flights early at £60 a pop. If its a problem we stay in the UK.
I am trying expat sites as well.  Either last year or more likely the year before a bar owner
was advertising packages for the week in the RP which sparked the idea.
We can phone bets through no problem its just the broadcasting we are unsure about.
Football is screened all over abroad so I assume somewhere will cater for racing.

A few years ago a group of us went abroad to watch the racing as we were bored of cheltenham. We had a villa with wifi so viewing and betting was fine. If you'd rather watch it in a pub I'd get there a day or two earlier and have a look about. You'll easily find a bar with uk tv so you can watch it if you ask the land lord and guarantee him four days of good drinking. You might only get channel 4 but if he has wifi you'll be able to watch the last race on the laptop.

We are going the opposite way over over the Irish Sea this year and going to Cork.

Went to Benidorm the year Long Run won the Gold Cup, had a full week, no-holds-barred fun, sun, betting and drinking and if I'd lost on every race it still would've cost less than the annual jaunt to HQ. Was great and no problem finding bars to watch the racing in or getting a bet on, to surprising size too. But then there were a lot of groups out there for 'Chelterdorm'. I'd do it again.
Whether that's the same where you're going, I don't know, but it's not too far up the coast to Benidorm, so if you don't get any luck, jump on the train.

A lot of people have done it before but I have not heard of anyone going over for a few years now.  Somebody said on an expat forum that english tv is really difficult to get in Southern Spain even with an enormous dish.  I am going to email RUK to see if they have business (bar) subscribers abroad

You can of course phone bets but you wont get on to BF or bookie sites unless you have VPN or some such like.

Sorrty for the ignorance but what is VPN and how do you get it. We can get RUK international for a one off £29.95 subscription and Channel 4 is still available on Intelsat 907 so anyone with Sky can access it.
I seem to recall C4 said they were going to show all races this year but we can have laptop back up
Apparently bars in Calahonda area show racing

Another shout for Benidorm.

Was there for Royal Ascot a few years ago and it was brilliant, 3-4 bars you can sit in drink 1 Euro beers and have a bet.

Get in the Winning Post for Brekkie, full day on the 1 Euro Beers, Watch the racing, smash the local bookies, Pop to Yorkshire Pride for a full Sunday Dinner and go see Sticky Vicky on the way home!

I have an apartment in Spain an hour south of Benidorm (torrevieja region) and many bars of English/Irish orientation show racing during the day, so in a bigger resort you'll have no problem.
Also re internet bets, getting on with the likes of Paddy Power, **** and VC Bet is no issue and I think B365 too. Hills a definite no though.
