Really like this horse. Long been held in high regard and now fulfilling his potential.
Admittedly he has to improve on what he has shown so far but he brushed aside reasonable opponents last time. He is definitely one you have to rely on the eye more than the form, but he travels, jumps really well and has a very good looking trainer.
He is entered in the group 1 in a fortnight so time which is looking another hot novice being run in Ireland. A positive run there however and the 20's are long gone.

and has a very good looking trainer.

Laugh Nice to see someone thinking outside the box Silly

Horse is moderate. Small stable syndrome - Think they have more than they do, hence the hype.

I have loved this horse for two seasons now but agree that a lot is taken on trust as the form isn't really there. He has a real classy way about him though - moves like a very good horse and I still hope he will win a big prize. Not sure if he's up to winning a good JLT but will have a few beans on him if he runs. Just wonder if the RSA might be an option though, as he might just be a three-miler.

ptit zig will be one of my bigger festival bets if running in the jlt, absolutely nothing not to like about this animal imo

Powers Gold Cup could be a more reasonable target if he's beaten in the Moriarty.

I like the horse but betting depends on which jockey rides because I just can't back davy russell

The same Davy Russell who bagged a Gold Cup day hat-trick ?
Report Gordon63 January 27, 2015 1:54 PM GMT
yep that same one - there's no doubt he's a good rider but he throws in enough odd ones for me to steer clear

He'll do for me on the big days, on a lesser day such as Fairyhouse New Years Day, you may have a point ;)

I agree with Gordon here - that Gold Cup Day hat-trick was immense but over the years I think he's ridden some shockers at Cheltenham.

I must have been dropping lucky with him, done me big favours on :

Naid de Missolot - Coral
Carlito Brigante - Coral
Lord Windermere - RSA
Sir Des Champs - JLT
First Lieutenant - Neptune

Some great rides on the above although the Mother in Law could have steered SDC home !! :)

well if you back him every race then you're going to have a few winners - oddly his 'big race' prowess may explain why he has small LS profit in UK over past five years but massive LS loss in Ireland, either way as I've said he's not one I can trust in the same way as shane Kelly, fran Norton, john egan and several others

I must admit it was unbelievable there was no enquiry into the riding of The Weld horse at Fairyhouse on NYD. If it was genuine error (ahem), he really must have either fallen asleep on the job or thought they had another circuit to go.

Similar to that was his ride on Mossback in the Ryanair of 2008. Finished second to Our Vic and the horse was full of running but he waited way too long. Nightmare stuff.

a sad end

RIP Le Vent D'Antan .... looked a promising chaser. Always sad to see any horse put down but it's always that bit worse again when it's the flagship horse in a yard.

Cry

Absolutely gutted about that - loved this horse for the last two seasons and he was still so young with a lot of scope for the future. Was down by the last and seeing the lad in bits afterwards put more than a lump in my throat. It's one hell of a tough game sometimes.
