Used to stay in Tewkesbury few years ago. Pretty cheapish
By:
Not particularly nice and you miss the racing buzz, but you can stay in a cheapish hotel in Bristol, which is 30 minutes away on the train.

There is a lady that operates a B&B provision company in Cheltenham. Usually fix you up.
Be warned. It's cheap but pure pot luck. Last time we used her we ended up on mattresses on the floor of a function room over a pub. The pints still on the bar from the night before and the plastic still on the mattresses ffs. Was told " There's some class of a bathroom down the hall and if you can get the shower working, I'll get you a towel" Got the "shower" working and was provided a tea towel. A f*$king hovel. You get what you pay for generally. Let me know if want the woman's name, if she's not changed it by deed poll in the meantime. |

you'll struggle for cheap within 10 miles now, i'd say

For cheap clean and generally ok try the motorway services Days inn or Holiday inn express's on the M5. Prices don't change just cos of a festival with them and they start from £25 a night too. Though the downside to that is there will have to be a designated driver lol
By:
stop at the copthorne in brum about £45 a night, enjoy the irish quarter on a night time 40 min drive to course, but as sts says a designated driver for each day if your going to drink plenty of the black stuff

i allways use cheltenhamracingaccomodation, rent a house for the week for about £300 per person, or bed and breakfast for about £60 - £70 per person per night.

Thanks for the help lads

OR back a few winners and stay at the Lygon Arms.

The lady is Liz Coe and she works miracles in finding accommodation in Cheltenham.
If there's nothing doing in town, I've stayed in both Cirencester, Tewkesbury Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton all of which are very decent, in fact I prefer getting out of Cheltenham during the festival. |

That one on Montpelier looks a bargain at £10k for the week ! :)

Any other suggestions of websites lads? Looking for somewhere to stay for just Gold Cup night.
I wouldn't' have a problem with it myself but it probably wouldn't go down too well if we were sleeping on a pub floor. Don't mind paying a bit extra but the hotels are coming out ridiculous prices atm. |

What about trying airbnb.co.uk?
Couple of places for around the £100 a night mark. |

My folks have just bought a new house, in Prestbury :)
0.7 miles from the racecourse, ****g buzzing |
By:
£100 a night x 2 if you take the missus for a b&b in Gloucestershire

Easy trip but like a morgue in the evenings the week i stayed there.
By:
Cheers. Not ideal then. I guess we could always go out in Cheltenham after the racing before heading back later...

I have stayed in cheltenham, bristol, gloucester & tewksbury. tewksbury was the best but a struggle to get if you are not driving.
Gloucester easily the worst by a long way. |

Couldnt believe it Glossy, probably good at the weekend but it was like a ghost town during the week.
By:
Definitely. It always is. Gloucester is just about as different a place to Cheltenham as you could get. We're all in Cheltenham that week!
By:
You wouldn't even know there was racing on if you stayed in Gloucester. As for nightlife ha fecking ha.

you can try roomsbooked.com you might be able to do 1 night on one of their properties.
We used to use then near the train station, basic accommodation, but good location. But this year trying the cheltracing.com a try this year (liz). As said its a bout £300 per person for the 4 or 5 nights, which is a decent price. |

gloucester not the same since club mystique closed down !!!!!!!!!!!!!
we had the pleasure of staying there for the ferstival a few years ago, enjoyed a very interesting tour of the "rooms" !!!!!!!!!! |

Stopping in Birmingham Centre hotel not far from train station, £36 pn, single rooms.
Getting train into Cheltenham each day on cheap advance tickets. Staying Monday night too. Cheapest hotel I could find in Cheltenham was £250 per night, although didn't look until Open Meeting! |

For us, half the fun is staying in Cheltenham, able to walk to and from the course, night out round Cheltenham after racing ans stumble into hotel. We pay about £350 a night but manage to get 4 in room, so not too bad.
