I know cue cards not been at his best this year, but a drop in distance looks sure to help and Pipe said he'd rather win a Ryanair then get placed in a gold cup, but with cue card now switching the Ryanair looks harder to win. Then the question becomes if he didn't win, which would he rather be placed in!!
I hear what your saying, but wearing the tongue tie seems to be helping him see his races out better over 3m and he was definitely doing his best work in the king George towards the finish. Now we don't know if Sc was idling or not, but he was getting to him. Now Sc has doubts over him at Cheltenham even with ulcer excuses and whatever. And I'd like to see how things would of turned out if the King George had been run over another 2f.

Rather than Dynste getting to Silve on the run in I think it more a case of horses like Dynaste and the third ridden to get the trip and being put into the race later. I simply cannot believe that the extra quarter mile going up the hill three times would play to Dynaste's strengths. Better a strong stayer over nealy six furlongs less than legless when he hits the hill in the big one.

Nothing in his form to say he can win a GC.His 3 mile wins have been poor contests. Hidden Cyclone and Radjhani Express behind him in Ryanair not a grade 1 win between them. Should try and defend his Ryanair crown

i dont think cue cards quite gone at the game. mabe he excelled himself in the betfair he won. silvi needed race and he got beaten easily on first run this season when needing run. dynaste isn't the strongest stayer in the world.
he has run respectably in the betfair and king george this season. and he clattered one in the king george.
back to ryanair distance he could be a different proposition and worth a go at the prices.

i think this comes down to a thread started to save a gold cup bet had by the O.P on dynaste in the gold cup...what does cue card have to do with dynaste running in the ryannair after all cue card has been running averagely so far this season

I only have my standard £10e/w on TGB at this point. (Heart over head). I was just looking at the gold cup and was trying to get a handle on the race, SC has looked very good this season, but still has questions to answer at Cheltenham.
Road to riches was impressive in the Lexus. having said that the winner of the Lexus is often impressive there, but less so at cheltenham.
Lord Windermere seems a much better horse round cheltenham then anywhere else and while I'm not prepared to back him. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he won again.
Holywell, well we've leant nothing about this one so far this season and would like to see him run some sort of race this season before I could even think about backing him.
Bobs worth just hasn't looked the same horse since his gold cup win.
On his own is sure to run his race again, but his tendency to head right under pressure puts me off backing him.
And here we are back at dynaste, if he ran at this point I think I'd risk my pennies on him. For the reasons I've already given.

If the Giant Bolster can place in two GC, then this horse has a chance
I'm on his NRNB
Re: Cue Card, he is a different animal when going left handed over undulating tracks, Cheltenham is very much his track. Have less people writting off Bobs Worth who has been fairly dire, Cue Card's price for Ryanair is too big

I don't think Dynaste would really have any hope of winning a Gold Cup. Place claims definitely, but on all known form, he has yet to beat Conti. Even when Conti had a hard race in last years GC and was suffering from stomach ulcers, Conti still beat him over 3m at Aintree.
I'd be much more worried about Don Cossack in the Ryanair than Cue Card.

Welllchief he did finish ahead of him in a betfair and as I said earlier on this thread he' does seem to be seeing out his races over 3m better since the tongue tie was fitted and I'm not sure about ulcers as an excuse. At the end of the day Al ferof was closer to SC in this years king George than last years! Which is surprising considering how much better PN reckons SC is this year??

Personally think 3m is as far as Dynaste wants to go before hes out his comfort zone. Ryanair is perfect for him as hes able to finish strongly up the hill, much like Albertas Run who also just about stayed 3m,but was more effective at Cheltenham over the Ryanair distance. And like Albertas, Dynaste could well win the Ryanair more than once, but will never win a gold cup, just not strong enough stayer, simple as that imo.

Sorry, forgot about that first Betfair. Still been beaten four times in a row by him though.
Re the ulsers, some will believe it, some won't. The Aintree run (ulsers or not) was lightning fast ground and Conti allegedly prefers soft, so Dynaste has his best chance then imo, given he went off fav too.
Re the distance between Conti and Alf, I'd say that was a lot more to do with Alf running better this time round than Conti running worse.

Wellchief I don't think SC ran worst than last year. In fact I think he ran about the same. So if he's no better than last year, I can't see him winning the GC.
As for Dynaste I think he is better than last year and I also think he will stay in fact I think he might improve for the extra distance.

I just backed Ballycasey for the Ryanair @ 20/1 on back of re-watching last years RSA. He travelled and jumped like a very classy animal and plain didn't stay.

I've just been looking at the Ryanair market. It's getting worse every time I look at it. I'd be tempted to say Menorah was the value but for his previous shocking efforts in the race.
I reckon Don Cossack has improved massively this season. Will be shocked if he doesn't finish in front of Ballycasey this time.

5/1 though, I'm not backing Don Cossack or Dynaste at those prices in a very competitive race.
Ruby said Champagne Fever didn't carry him lto even before he fell. Which takes away from Dons performance. Also he may remember his fall from last years Cheltenham and he has no strong form in big fields. All enough factors to put me off at skinny prices.
Cue Card got a bad cut at Kempton lto and it's clear he doesn't stay 3m at the top level. But I'd want more juice in his price too.
I've a big bet on Uxizandre in this but think he will be going for Champion Chase due to how Dodging Bullets has done this season and Uxizandre had him well held over 2m in Nov. He just went crazy crazy fast at Leopardstown when nothing got home.

I'd read nothing into Ruby's comments there myself. I take the big field point on board but last seasons RSA was his only attempt and he wasn't beaten when falling. No form as such but no evidence he has any problem with them either.
I've given up on Cue Card, or I'm still trying to at least.
Uxizandre still a reasonable price for the CC if you believe that.

DYNASTE is looking likely to defend his Ryanair Chase title at the festival after finishing a beaten favourite over a longer trip at Saturday's Cheltenham Trials meeting.
The David Pipe-trained nine-year-old has finished placed in all four of his races since last March, a streak of results that includes a third place in the Betfair Chase and a second in the King George.
Sent off a 5-2 favourite for the 3m1½f BetBright Cup on Saturday, he finished third behind Many Clouds.
Pipe told his website: "Dynaste performed with credit but was unable to overhaul the improving Hennessy winner Many Clouds on the run-in, finishing third beaten less than two lengths.
"I certainly wouldn’t say he was beaten for stamina, although it is pertinent that his best performances have come over slightly shorter.
"With that in mind he is more likely to line up in the Ryanair Chase in March, although I am sure we will keep the Gold Cup option open until the last moment and not make a definitive decision until nearer the time."
Dynaste is 5-1 joint-favourite for the Ryanair with Don Cossack and is as big as 33-1 for the Betfred-sponsored Gold Cup.
