Simonsig out for the season and I fear we my never see this flying grey on a racecourse again. Won me a bundle backing him all season for the Arkle which he won despite not being 100%. Always thought he was the only horse who could have troubled Sprinter Sacre over 2 mile. He'll be a 10yr old if he runs in at the 2016 and he might end up being a "if only" and "what if" horse.

Yes a pity.

Feel desperately sorry for Ronnie Bartlett. He is steeped in jump racing - hunting, point to points and has had his success over the years but you don't get too many shots at the top prizes, even with the horses that his money can buy.

I agree with both above comments. Endless potential and s machine of a horse. The fact he is a grey added to the joy of watching him run.

He is with the wrong trainer.

That the same trainer that won a Neptune and Arkle with him sint? Won 7 and 2nd the other time in the 8 runs he has had for NJH? Very shabby......

There are hundreds of horses which get injured every year and plenty never run again but you only hear of the good ones. NJH has far more good ones than most so you hear about his. No blame on him.

Gutted - love this horse.

Alvarado (sadly don't see him on here anymore) flagged him up before and just after he joined Nicky Henderson.  I owe him a lot because he is the one who put me on to him before he had a run in England, and because of the thread below, I was on him at 25's for his Neptune win (don't care if it's aftertiming, it's on the first page of the thread).

His Neptune win, to my eye, was better than The New One's and Faugheen's.  There were some cracking debates on here as half were in the Simonsig camp and half in the Fingal Bay camp for the Neptune, after Fingal Bay beat him.

Won an Arkle (albeit a poor Arkle) when not fully fit, and could have gone on to so much more.

Backed him for last year's King George and Gold Cup antepost, and didn't turn up, and backed him to win any race this year and won't turn up.  Owes me nothing though.

Only regret is I had a massive voucher on a Sprinter (Arkle) and Simonsig (Supreme) double that would have won me well into the thousands.  He would have smashed Cinders and Ashes to pieces in that Supreme as well.

Just re-read that thread wellchief and after his defeat in the Challow, some of the comments reminded me of the Tell Us More thread! Just shows that a potential star getting beaten on their second run may not be a disaster after all

Hopefully the beast will be back!!  Didn't expect to see him on the racecourse again.

Pencilled in for the Haldon Gold Cup - difficult race to come back to, but he would smash this lot fully fit, especially off 159.

Just hope he gets round safely if he does run - he had the potential to be an all time great, but sadly doubt he'll  be the same after his injury.

Had to have a little bit of the 10's for any race - mugs bet I know after one comeback run, but backed him every year for the last four years, so why stop now.

He's generally that price for the QMCC, and it gives me the safety net for the Ryanair.

Impossible to judge the form from the other day, but great to see him back, travelling with loads of zest on ground he would have hated.  The 2m chasing division needs a proper rival to UDS to make it interesting (sorry Dodging Bullets fans) so I think everyone should have their fingers crossed that he stays sound and at least gives us something to talk about in the build up throughout the season.

My fav horse in training.
