Rich Ricci in a recent interview on this horse - "Kalkir is three and ran a great race in a newcomers race at Auteuil when only just behind Bonito Du Berlais, who has gone on to win four on the trot, including a Grade 1 by 12 lengths in the newcomers race at Auteuil. He's one we are really looking forward to, and is hopefully a Triumph Hurdle horse."
Runs tomorrow in the 12.30 Fairyhouse and is currently a best priced 11/8 for the race. He is best priced 14/1 for the Triumph Hurdle.
Willie Mullins on his Racing Post blog, "I don't normally run a horse with Kalkir's profile first time up in a graded race, but we'll take our chance. It Looks as if the three-year-old division in Ireland is quite open and we said that we'd take a chance despite that inexperience. He was fourth in a hurdle race in France and impressed that day. That race has worked out too. He will be accompanied in the race by Verawal, who ran much better than expected the last day at Punchestown, and Tarabiyn. Both have place possibilities".

Lucky enough to be on at 25's for the Triumph (which is normally a race I leave alone antepost) as saw the interview with Ricci and you can just tell this horse is one of their main hopes this season.

Bit of a joke, 5 6 and 7/1 this early out on a horse that's had a day out in the mud for a race as rough as the Triumph hdl. If your not on already, i certainly wouldn't be a taker! Lay lay lay when/if he goes short on the day!

8/1 looks about right....destroyed his field....plenty of scope. Pulled hard early....be odds on in December in the 4yr old Hurdle....he wins that which he more than likely will he be 7/2 favorite for the Triumph before the New year.

Only 1 run in France so it's form is hard to quantify at this stage unless you only use the one horse to gauge it around(Bonito Du Berlias), Visibly it was impressive but a long way to go before March and by then the form of today's race could look very poor, Or strong.

Kalkir might turn out to be better suited by better ground but it was disappointing run nonetheless. The winner, Fiscal Focus, though could be good. I'd be too young to remember Monksfield but it would be a nice story if this horse was to make it to Cheltenham as a Triumph Hurdle contender.
