Hills are actually offering place terms on this market for the first time. I think this is a brilliant idea and i have duly started a portfolio on horses with more than one possible target that are currently priced not more than a couple of points (or would be the case for races that are 2nd place alternatives i.e the tullow tank is expected according to betting to go for the jlt at this stage but is also priced for the rsa and would be close to fav for that if rsa was said to be target)

I have added two to my portfolio in this market with hills
THE TULLOW TANK AT 8/1 1/5th 123
VAUTOUR 7/2

Sea I would hardly ever consider place betting ante post - surely there is no value in it. Ok a week before a race and its 100% (?) certain that the horse runs and its price is going to drop from something like 20/1 to 10/1 then its a good bet. Otherwise no.

Works well for me mate. I prefer each way bets to win only bets. All them times you waited months for that special race, that horse in that race you can't see past, you got 33/1 5 months ago and now it's 7/2 fav, and their off, and it gets done by a nose and all your other selections in same race are stuffed out of site. Happens!

I been here before, each year i type the same. I don't do just one in a race. I try to build a portfolio around each race and build both a win book and a place one on selections i can only see being much shorter prices on the day of said race. And i regularly make nice profits every festival. Of course if i was a trader/arber like a friend of mine is then yes, win only bets are the only way forwards.

Above bet is a good one which ever way you look at it imo. Getting the same price as he is for the JLT, 8/1 and getting place terms, but for a bet that includes all races! So if the trainer decides he will run in the rsa or any other possible i still have a bet at a price that wont be matched on the day!

Agree STS as it can work in your favour. Not quite the same but last years festival i fancied Somersby to be in the first 3.Ok wasn't expecting it to win but by chipping away at 50 and 33s then laying the win part back on the day i was quids in,in the place market with a free win bet riding to nothing.
Cracking spot but as Arkle says it aint everyones cuppa tea but well worth keeping an eye on

Paddy Power have the same market and allow the horses to be put into multiples.

Added SImonsig hills 7/1 each way!
If he wins lg he runs in gold cup, if SS is no more or not as good as once was he could run in qmcc, currently fav I Ryanair. Which ever race he runs in as long as he's fit and well he's is no worse than top 3 in betting! 7/1 for that reason I huge!

conflicting reports but I heard somewhere that "they wernt entirely happy with sprinter sacre , then hendo says he worked like his old self ,who knows ? but logic tells if  he were truly back to his old self or even near to it  then he would be a lot shorter than 3.3 especially since the sire de grugy setback ,maybe I am missing something but as the old saying goes if it looks too good to be true  etc!
