Found myself dipping in here a lot earlier then usual but cant help but feel its the only meeting i get a proper buzz off nowadays.Contemplating where to stay in March and fizzing over wether the ante post markets (not now tho) are actually worth while anymore or just wait until the day when the bookies try and outdo each other so therein getting more potential value on the day thus taking out any risk etc.
Hotels in Cheltenham are ridicoulously overpriced these days so tend to stay further a field but if anyone knows of a hidden gem or somewhere going for a single then please post here before i book (probs be looking at mid November latest for booking). Tried Liz Coe and all the other shenanigans before but open to offers from most establishments should you know of one.Planning on going Tues Weds Thurs next year so any info welcome.
Not long before the season gets into action and am thoroughly looking forward to what promises to be the most open yet.
Any tips,views,value,snippets are most welcome and just under 6 months to go im already gearing up to the best week of the year bar none

I've already booked my hotel for the October and November meeting and booked a cottage in Worcester for the Festival

Turns out I'm in the same boat now! Owners in Worcester are selling the cottage so have had to cancel our booking......if anyone knows of any towns etc within a half hour drive of Cheltenham to stay in that won't break the bank it would be much appreciated?!

Stayed at Tewkesbury Golf & Country in Synchronised's year, booked quite late too and it was perfectly reasonable - less than a half hour run, was £25 in a taxi iirc. Other than that, yeah, Liz Coe is usually reliable.

a few chaps i know who like a drink and chat stay in brum , which i didn't ever fancy , but they make the point loads of rooms , lots of city lively / office pubs , restaurants and non stop 45 mins trains to chelters every half hour or so . assured me early booking you can nick a decent quality place still . cheltenham nightlife well overated nowadays anyway .

I'm flying into and staying in Birmingham myself. Few recommended it and flights from Belfast are cheap too.

Yeah stayed in Brum last time Windsor Knot and tbf it weren't that bad really.As you say the Cheltenham nightlife isnt as good as once was but i suppose by staying in Cheltenham it just takes the sting out of travelling but puts a bigger hole in the wallet.

Only stayed in Cheltenham once. the accommodation was overpriced and the nightlife overrated.
Head for satellite towns - Stow, Malvern, Cirencester - instead |

Cheers Roger, not bothered about nightlife anyway......just somewhere with a bed, a decent breakfast and doesn't cost the earth

Stayed in Bishop's Cleeve every year for a good while now, Very handy for the course, and a couple of pubs and a curry house in the village.
