Vautour and now Faugheen. The bookies have already taken evasive action but there must be so many trebles from the Irish punters and as this one is supposedly the banker for many is it likely to be odds on?

He'll be desperate short if FY and/or AP go in tomorrow.
Report marychain1 March 12, 2014 9:50 PM GMT
treble from an English punter here
Report mcgoldrick March 13, 2014 6:17 PM GMT
Evens
Report Swardean March 13, 2014 6:21 PM GMT
The pipe winners this week will prop the price up imo, less than Evens would be crazy
Report marychain1 March 13, 2014 6:56 PM GMT
Briar Hill would be a big return for me, tempted to stick a ton on the Pipe horse, it has the best form of any staying novice - everything franked.
Report festivalfanatic March 13, 2014 7:26 PM GMT
Given the performances of Vautour and Faugheen this isn't a plausible lay. Willie knows exactly how good BH is. If this is his best novice hurdler, he won't be too worried about King's Palace.

Report Eeternaloptimist March 13, 2014 9:34 PM GMT
Being honest I backed King's Palace ante post but I can't ignore the form of the Mullins novices. Having said that I did take a view from what I've seen that Briar Hill wasn't as good as Faugheen but that may still be good enough and who knows he could be better? Shocked
Report ReaseHeath March 14, 2014 9:54 AM GMT
Looks a pretty deep race to me, of course BH could be a monster but they would n't hear of defeat for Annie Power either.

King's Palace ticks all the boxes in terms of profile for this race and has best form in the book imo, BH never been beyond 2.5m.

Urban Hymn, Deputy Dan, Captain Cutter and even Champagne West are all unexposed and full of potential.

Mosspark is interesting also, Lavelle had a couple run well earlier in the week including Timesremembered in the Coral Cup who could have run in this.

I'm not a layer but will probably back King's Palace and have a little each way on Mosspark.
Report Brooksielad March 14, 2014 9:57 AM GMT
i would rather hedge the 2nd and 3rd in betting tbh

not happy with bookie 's  KNOCK--OUTS .....BOB'S WORTH ??? TODAY  BILLY ILL
Report happyhibee March 14, 2014 11:20 AM GMT
Despite the money for it in the lead up I don't get the impression that this is getting lumped the same was as his first 2 novice winners. I really fancy Kings Palace too think it has the best form and stable is in rattling good form
Report festivalfanatic March 14, 2014 12:11 PM GMT
Suspect price contraction over the past couple of days due to multiple bet liabilities. If Annie Power had won yesterday, he would probably be even money! If the horse is of similar ability to Vautour and Faugheen, then 2/1 is probably about right.

Highly unlikely.

Compound fracture. 4-5 months out in probability.

David Casey rides Briar Hill now, not Paul Townend.

rough race, very attritional, hope the horses all come back safe.

Those falls looked bad Sad

I think it was Kings Palace that fell at the last and was still down when they finished.

Simon Holt wasn't sure who it was.

Hope we get good news.
Report Makybe_Diva March 14, 2014 3:07 PM GMT
Graham Cunningham thinks Kings Palace got up ok.

We'll have to wait for news of the others.
Report Mr Mischief March 14, 2014 3:10 PM GMT
Briar Hill would have hosed up, would have been my biggest ever return. I never Layed, ended up just backing Kings Palace as a saverCry
Report Makybe_Diva March 14, 2014 3:14 PM GMT
Mr Mischief Sad

Hope all the horses are alright. They haven't said anything yet.
Report Makybe_Diva March 14, 2014 3:19 PM GMT
Briar Hill been taken off in the horse ambulance with what seems to be a small fracture on his cheekbone but he should be alright. That's according to Alice.
Report cufcno1 March 15, 2014 5:09 PM GMT

Has anybody heard any news about Briar Hill and his well being?  Thanks
Report Can't Catch Me December 2, 2014 12:21 PM GMT
I spoke to Graeme Wylie about him a few weeks ago. He actually showed me the X-Rays of the fractured eye socket and it really was a horrific injury. The horse was very close to being blinded.

The horse is in good shape and very well, no physical issues...they are just a little worried about the psychological effects of being back in the hustle and bustle of a race after such an incident.
Report shockster December 2, 2014 2:06 PM GMT
Cheers CCM.  Many thanks
Report wellchief December 3, 2014 10:08 AM GMT
Cheers CCM. Here's hoping he comes back A1 and as he would add a lot of depth and quality to the WH.

A few small runner fields in Ireland could be a good start for him to ease him back in.

I suppose you never can tell the psychological effects of a fall until they are back on the track.
Report SoYouThink December 27, 2014 12:03 PM GMT
Briar Hill backers will be slightly worried reading Willie Mullins comments prior to the Leopardstown Christmas Hurdle - sounds like he's the clear third string behind Zaidpour and Glens Melody and they don't know where they are with him:

We have three runners in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle over 3 miles. Zaidpour (Ruby) is our number onechoice and has the advantage of having won this race last year. He will love the ground and we are expecting a very good run. Glens Melody (Paul) ishaving her first outing of the season and we expect she will come on for the run. Briar Hill (David Casey) is also having his first run back after having cheekbone surgery following his fall at the Cheltenham festival. It ishard to judge how forward he is on his work at home so we will just have tosee how he gets on
