Short advice: don't bet in-play at Cheltenham. Cheats will be track-side trying to mug you off.
Longer version of the same advice:
Some people will be operating in-play on Betfair using private data-feeds from people track-side at Cheltenham racecourse.
Their 'man' may for example be on their mobile whispering 'safe' 'safe' 'slight blunder' 'safe' 'faller' etc for the first two favourites, and that private data-stream may be being used by someone on here to get their way to the front of the betting queue, or hoover a price on a horse that no longer has any chance whatsoever.
The ticketing terms are clear:

'no Attendee may use any mobile telephone, computer or other device or telecommunications equipment or system to capture, store and/or distribute (whether by way of speech or the electronic transmission of any data in any form) any data or information concerning or relating to any race. . .'
Betfair do not have an implemented policy to ban accounts linked to people sending unauthorised data feeds from sports events, but Betfair's stated policy is as follows: 'Specific Conditions relating to your use of the Exchange
Your Conduct
You will at all times act in good faith in relation to the counterparties to your bets struck through the Exchange and such counterparties will be able to enforce this duty directly against you. In particular you will not place bets on the Exchange in breach of any sporting rules, regulations or code of conduct which apply to you.'
Some people dont like the accusation that using an unauthorised data feed from the track is cheating.
The people doing it are:
Accepting the Rules of the track when they buy their ticket.
Breaking those Rules
Doing so knowingly and
Doing it for financial advantage
If that isn't a definition of cheating, then I'd like to see a better one. Heck, when you watch children play a board game, there doesn't even have to be a financial advantage for someone breaking the rules to be accused of cheating.
In summary: Don't let Betfair win ( they don't care about you and they don't care about enforcing their own rules on this ). Don't let the cheats win. Don't bet in-play.
