Tis the night before Cheltenham so its time for the annual and almost certainly futile plea to Channel 4 to show the races properly

DO NOT show a close-up of a small number of horses for a furlong so the rest of the field is out of shot.

DO NOT show a close-up of the leader as it jumps the final obstacle. It is nice to see how the challenging horses approach, jump and getaway so one can judge properly if they have a chance of making the ground up.

DO NOT try and win awards for artistic merit. This is sport. Information is what counts. Close-ups are a form of censorship.

Having got that off my chest have a great 4 days and may you back many winners!

Wasting your effort. They are aiming for the armchair once a year viewer, not serious punters. Stick with RUK if you have it.

Totally right. The close ups can be saved for a replay of the race. Who actually wants to see close ups during a race? I'd imagine the once a year viewers have had a bet too and would probably rather watch the full field.

The media luvvies are concerned with the arty effects that please the twots who vote in the awards events.

They are most decidedly not interested on what the serious racing fan wants...

from little I saw of Ch4 yesterday, was a pleasant surprise, especially the cam in the jockey's helmet. Fair play to Ch4

well said kublai many punters have place bets and placepots still running and need to know if the horse(s) are in contention for a place or not.
