Good to soft ground for the start of the Festival looks long odds on now after clerk of the course Simon Claisse receives a favourable weather forecast leading up to the meeting.

So it seems we have an official statement. If there is "any chance" of the ground becoming good the lunatic Claisse will water to ensure it remains good-soft
Personally, I think it's disgusting. Watering was introduced to keep conditions safe, and that's all it should be used for. I'm not sure what the motivation for this policy is - maybe to ensure the Irish keep coming in big numbers, but it's completely unfair to good-ground horses who are guaranteed to never have a chance.

Good point - the stats boy keep saying the NH bred horses have the upper hand lately and this is probably why.
However, Claisses GOOD/Soft and someone elses is a world away - his ego will say GS even when it is running faster than that just so he looks like a good greenkeeper. |

The person saying the 'taps will be turned on!!!' I would suggest has his tongue firmly in cheek (given Claisse's apparent fondness for a hosepipe). Certainly not an official statement. |

There will more then likely be a hosepipe ban around Gloucestershire with the amount of H2O big Si will be slinging on the track
