hopefully Ryan Air as i think things might happen a little to quick for him over the 2 miles especially on better ground. Think he can beat Dynaste again over the trip and only Al Ferof the danger imo.

I think he will go well in either race myself and will back him whichever they choose.
Just think the QM, without SS, looks a pretty weak race, as I am personally worried about the course form of SdG, even though plenty arent. The Ryanair looks very competitive. |

I believe Martin came out earlier in the week and said he'll be running in the Ryanair. Given the way he stayed up the hill in the Jewson last year, I think it is the right race.

carefull lads lot of money for it yesterday night for champion and having a workout this morning ,could be connections may want champion and martin the ryanaire !
By:
Last night Gary O'Brien said that the owners were keen to run in the champion chase.......That would be the trainers get out if he changes the plan. Personally I think the cc is the weaker race and the better option

Backers who got some of the £60 ish north of 100 will be happy

one of my main bets of the week if in the ryanair.
By:
yes apparently workout at leopardstown this morning and according to a source hit 10s on here at one point last night, still solid for the ryanaire but who knows ! trainer don't let his right hand know what his left hand is doing so anyones guess !

Jockey availability might come into it also but I would always tread warily in instances like this.
By:
Gary O'Brien also suggested last night that Ruby could come in for the ride if Benefficient goes Ryanair - although Cooper would presumably be available if they opted to go QMCC (which would obviously be contrary to every pronouncement from AJM over the past week). Tend to agree with the views above that this year it will take less to hit the frame in the QMCC, and quite possibly less to win it.

i was talking to tony martin last thursday and he say he had a great chance in the ryanair, Felix younger was his nap of the meeting now that he has his ground
By:
Just wondering any update on which race?!
By:
I heard from reliable source last night (Thurs night) that he was heading for C Ch.
By:
23s for Champ chase and 4s for Ryanair
How reliable is your source? |
By:
Succinctly put Bally - esp given the betting reputation of the stable!
By:
Its difficult to know really but only 13s now for Ch C. Nothing would surprise me - its tread carefully.
By:
Thanks Arklearkle
How reliable normally is your source??!! |
By:
Apologies Naraic but perhaps there may be no such thing as a reliable source wrt this stable. In the circumstances probably sorry I said anything and have not backed Beneficient in either race and irrespective of what I might hear I would be very reluctant to back him before overnight declarations.
By:
Given that the ground will more than likely be good on Wed, i be shocked if he runs in QM.
By:
Thanks Arklearkle
You just wouldn't know with those guys....the intrigue... |
By:
no brainer really...he will run in the ryannair

NRNB

By:
I would like him to go Champ Chase as I have 25s...also have 8s Ryanair. Just think he will go Ryanair with Cooper on board as FL Gold Cup bound
By:
Looks like a done deal for the Ryanair now

By:
Still undecided
Owner fancy the CC I hope NOT ![]() |
By:
would Cooper be free to ride in the CC ?
By:
Cooper is the other consideration of a series of conundrums which may well influence views.
Here is my take Cooper will ride Benefficient in CC Cooper will ride Rathlin in Ryanair Cooper will ride First Lieutenant in GC Last Instalment will stay at home |
By:
If i was the owner and for what Cooper has achieved on this horse it would push me towards the CC

Tony Martin's 2013 Cheltenham Festival hero Benefficient has been retired after sustaining a serious leg injury.
Also a winner of three Grade Ones at Leopardstown, including the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase earlier this season, he earned his owners over £200,000. Benefficient last ran in the Ryanair Chase two weeks ago but was pulled up. In a post on Facebook, New York-based Aidan 'Red' Shiels and Niall Reilly said: "To all our friends in horse racing and Benefficient fans. "It is with great sorrow that we have to report that Benefficient has run his last race after sustaining a serious leg injury. "Three years ago we began a fairytale trip with Benefficeint which saw us in March 2013 reach the pinnacle of National Hunt racing at Cheltenham when we walked Benefficient into the winner's enclosure a champion. "To everyone who made this great journey possible, from our vet Ned Gowing, jockeys Ruby Walsh, Paul Townend and of course Bryan Cooper, our trainer Tony Martin and all his staff who put in all the hard work behind the scenes, from the bottom of our hearts we thank you for everything." A very underrated horse IMO. Hope he has a long and enjoyable retirement. |

By:
Lovely piece written there, true he never seemed to get the full credit he deserved, happy retirement to him.

By:
Wonderful horse, shame we wont be able to see him win many top races again.
Happy retirement ![]() |
