Where a bookie goes NRNB (before the final declaration stage) for Cheltenham and you place an ew bet (say 1/4 odds 1, 2, 3) - what happens if the number of runners falls below 8. My understanding is that the place terms at the time of placing the bet still stand. Am I right?!
you shouldnt need to play safe - it doesn't matter if it ends up 4 runners - your e/w 1/4 ,2,3 stand. If they tell you it doesn't feel free to urinate all over their shop and throw their coupons around.

Thanks for all the replies although I did nearly urinate myself at Marychain's advice!
Obviously I agree with what you are saying but it is extremely difficult to get this confirmed by the staff of the various bookmakers.

Unfortunately the vast majority of betting shop staff don't know a thing about betting on horse racing, as they are not trained properly nowadays. As long as they know how to turn on and empty an FOBT, the bookies are happy.

gnashersblackpool got it right make sure you have it written on your slip ie 1.2.3.or 4 which ever applies. I placed a bet on the Monday of Cheltenham week at 8.45am for a race to be run on Wednesday on the lad brookes screen it had 9 runners ew quarter the odds 123 on Wednesday down two 7 runners my horse got 3rd 33.1 did I get paid NO there answer was on Monday there was only 7 runners I said it stated on the the screen 9 runners. took it to ibbass to see what they said and they went in favour of ladcrooks stated that ladcrooks had proved to them that there was only 7 runners at the time of the bet so there for it was a loser. but I know it had on the screen 9 runners ew quarter 123 else i would not have placed the bet.. so they had obviously not updated there screens..
