weather dont look bad possible rain on friday ,any thoughts ?

it might be but it aint what clerk will give it out as for opening race.
It will start good to soft (or softer) officially come hell or high water but if the weather forecast is right, it will be rattling by Friday. Harry Topper will need to start now to win the Gold Cup.
turftrax have it currently soft all over when it was tested at 4.45pm today

A little bit of rain, but nothing significant, forecast on Friday. Other than that it looks totally dry. If this is correct, we should have good to soft ground by the weekend. The few days running up to the Festival will determine what the going will be.

True geoff. I was talking more from a punting on horses perspective rather than on the market. If it does turn out good, he's likely to call it good to soft good in places.
O.K AC been at least 2 yrs in last 10 where hes changed the ground during 1st day and 2008 where he should have changed it but didnt.
GOOD to soft could appear in the Cheltenham official ground description as early as Wednesday.
That was the view of clerk of the course Simon Claisse after a dry day on Tuesday and temperatures up to 10-11C.
The going remains soft on both courses and soft, heavy in places on the cross-country circuit.
There was also good news on the weather forecast front with Claisse adding: "I have just received an updated forecast suggesting there could be much less than the original 9-12mm of rain between now and the start of racing. It is now 3-4mm."
