Couple of reasons spring to mind. Gordon Richards and WA Stephenson were horse people through and through, knew the game inside out. Had big spending backers like the Edinburgh Woolen Mill mob, Peter Deel etc, always bought quality NH bred stock. It all pretty much died out when the flat bred became more popular and the introduction of French horses. Just a change of breeding habits really.
Oh for the days of Twin Oaks and Blazing Walker. |
