given decent ground, must be worth a e/w bet.
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 10:47 AM GMT
took some big prices a while back and when it drifted right out midweek  thought the bet was down the ,at least it looks as though I will get a run !
Report Ramruma March 2, 2014 10:47 AM GMT
I'd rather he waited for the Grand National, where he has a chance, than ran here to give the owners a day out.
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 2, 2014 10:54 AM GMT
Cool

Never a day out for the owners, he needs to be gold cup class to  win the grand national off his high weight. On good ground he could go close in the gold cup.
Report colupaul March 2, 2014 11:28 AM GMT
Fair play to those who got on big last week... all the talk was of the Bryne Plate then a crack at the Nat... probably a bit of a overreaction by the books to the latest news... 40s - 50s on the day maybe if all main protagonists hold their ground?
Report Ramruma March 2, 2014 11:41 AM GMT
Triolo has never won on an undulating course like Chelters, and the risk is he'll jar himself up before Aintree.
Report jasey March 2, 2014 11:49 AM GMT
The Gold cup is the easier assignment.
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 12:01 PM GMT
hendo said he worked really well this morning^^^^
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 2, 2014 12:02 PM GMT
I wonder who will get the ride, i hope it is not tinkler.
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 12:07 PM GMT
lightly raced ,improving ,and the step up from handicapper to grade winner is not insurmountable a la synchronised ,
Report ashleigh March 2, 2014 12:08 PM GMT
ap mccoy looks available?
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 12:08 PM GMT
I would say the best available ............whats  ruby and ap riding ?
Report mary hinge March 2, 2014 12:09 PM GMT
Is it a negative sign towards BW?
Report GI MAC March 2, 2014 12:09 PM GMT
^ absolutely, a thorough stayer and can easily see him running a big race, if its good ground.
Report jasey March 2, 2014 12:09 PM GMT
Aint he on T43 if he runs
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 2, 2014 12:10 PM GMT
think he committed to T43 but i guess that could change, Maybe Ruby could ride as Mullins only has one entered.
Report GI MAC March 2, 2014 12:11 PM GMT
I can see AP switching to TDA
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 12:12 PM GMT
a price crash in the offing if ap or ruby get the leg up !
Report Ramruma March 2, 2014 12:18 PM GMT
Has he had a wind op since Henderson said he had wind problems?

Triolo has raced four times on courses with uphill finishes and lost every time, which fits with a breathing problem.
Report jasey March 2, 2014 12:18 PM GMT
What price is he?
Report Ramruma March 2, 2014 12:21 PM GMT
What's in it for AP? He won't keep the ride at Aintree.
Report ashleigh March 2, 2014 12:23 PM GMT
ramruma, you sound desperate not for it to run, why?
Report ReaseHeath March 2, 2014 12:25 PM GMT
He won the Hennessy off 147, Bob's won it off 160 and is 5/5 at Cheltenham.

Appreciate that's all catered for in the price and he deserves to take his chance on good ground, not least because he might not necessarily get his ground at Aintree.
Report jasey March 2, 2014 12:28 PM GMT
Don't think the the op is saying he is going to win.
Report Ramruma March 2, 2014 12:38 PM GMT
@ashleigh -- ramruma, you sound desperate not for it to run, why?

Just trying to stop people getting carried away. The formbook says he can't win the Gold Cup (not good enough and won't act on the track) whereas he can win the Grand National. Until this piece of work, connections were talking about the Plate which is a long way below Gold Cup class.

I can see why connections are tempted -- Bobs Worth apart, it looks a weak Gold Cup -- but imo he'll just risk leaving the National behind at Cheltenham.
Report ReaseHeath March 2, 2014 12:43 PM GMT
it's possible, especially given only just over three weeks between the races this year...

However T43 running in Gold Cup as prep for National and Mullins stated in RP yday that he's considering running Boston Bob in Gold Cup to aim for top 4 finish to qualify for National.

I guess it depends on the horse.
Report jasey March 2, 2014 1:22 PM GMT
National is an afterthought and has he got  much choice of races to run in other than graded races.
Report ReaseHeath March 2, 2014 1:31 PM GMT
^ which horse?

Thinking about it, Triolo D'Alene could've run over 3m 2f at Donny yesterday and got his ground and prep run for the National in - think he was entered at 5 day stage.

They now risk going to National without a prep run or possibly having a hard race in the Gold Cup.

Perhaps they believe he's improved sufficiently to be really competitive in Gold Cup.
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 1:36 PM GMT
just thinking about that "bit of work" this morning hendo said triolo worked really well ! we were delighted with him ,we have to go somewhere with him and the gold cup is wide open this year . bobs worth also worked on the mandown gallop and he is another who worked well .
would say it wont have been a  taxing a gallop but he sounds especially upbeat about triolo and reckon his price will be in the teens come raceday .
Report FOYLESWAR March 2, 2014 3:48 PM GMT
into 22 on here now !
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 8:35 AM GMT
crazy price now, i know he loves fast ground etc.

my 150 odds are looking nice now, but for betfairs incompetence it would be near 1000.
Report FOYLESWAR March 8, 2014 9:26 AM GMT
yeah nice bet Ibrahima  am on at 48 and 50 and am happy ,rocky creek out now and room for triolo to shorten further especially if last ins  don't line up ,heard a rumour that triolo worked all over bobs  but wheather he can do it on the racecourse isa another matter , we all know bobs loves the track but not easy to retain a gold cup ,
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 9:44 AM GMT
the price certainly indicates someone/connections are confident.

good luck foyleswar
Report FOYLESWAR March 8, 2014 10:17 AM GMT
ibrahima  you trading your stake out ? or are you letting it ride ?
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 10:23 AM GMT
letting it ride as i will be backing bobs worth to win on the day, he only has BW & SC to beat imho.

& for me SC beat 2 non stayers in the KG and last season i took the view that he would not had finished in the first 3 in the gc. different i know.
Report jasey March 8, 2014 10:39 AM GMT
He has been putting Bobs Worth in his place in training.
Report Fabulous March 8, 2014 10:44 AM GMT
GL Foyles and Sonko, 110's to 290's for me, really hopeful of a run for my money.
Report judorick March 8, 2014 10:50 AM GMT
as it turns out, SC beat a horse that was injured in the King George as Cue Card almost certainly fractured his pelvis in the race and would probably have won had he not

which makes the King George form look even worse imo
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 10:59 AM GMT
not sure a horse can not show a sign of a cracked pelvis for 3 months imho.
Report judorick March 8, 2014 11:07 AM GMT
they hadn't done any work with him after the King George but the lameness showed up when they started to build him back up so he had very little chance to injure himself after the race so in all probability he did it in the race

they thought it was muscular as the lameness was intermittent but it turns out it was a stress fracture , confirmed by a scan, and you don't get stress fractures doing light work and walking

highly probable it happened in the race and that is why he stopped... he never stopped in any other race when hitting the front and going clear
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 11:11 AM GMT
that does make sense but you would had thought they would had known earlier
Report judorick March 8, 2014 11:11 AM GMT
and it is not 3 months you moron, the race was 26th December which is was only 2 months from when they announced his withdrawal and they gave him a month off, then he was lame when they started work and they hoped he would come right but he didn't. The stress fracture was revealed earlier this week

you should engage brain before posting crap like "not sure a horse can not show a sign of a cracked pelvis for 3 months imho."

it's still not 3 months now ffs
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 11:20 AM GMT
please dont ruin this fred with uncontrollable temper, judo.

this a forum, so i put 3 months ffs.  it happened over 2 months ago.
Report marychain1 March 8, 2014 11:39 AM GMT
judo Laugh I love you but some of your reactions are a tad dramatic
Report FOYLESWAR March 8, 2014 10:05 PM GMT
think this horse has to be taken seriously he looks to have been underestimated and from being a horse aimed at the national he is now being pitched in with the big boys and I belive he has a realistic chance of putting it up to the likes of silviniarco conte, bobs worth and co ,seems to have improved a ton from last season and may be he has come of age ,won the hennesey and has also won a big field race at aintree . supposedly wont be suited by the undulations of Cheltenham but if that were the case why would hendo and co send him there ? I think they belive he has a major chance and still a decent price at around 14-16/1 can see him in single figuers by race day must and he is open to any amount of improvement and is one who has not shown his hand yet .have him at big prices and going in again ... selection triolo daleen 1 point each way nrnb 14/1 or better .
Report Can't Catch Me March 8, 2014 10:15 PM GMT
He has been putting Bobs Worth in his place in training.

Wouldn't put too much emphasis on that, BW a notoriously lazy horse at home
Report inchcailoch March 8, 2014 10:19 PM GMT
I think he won a poor hennessy tbh, beat Rocky creek 2 3/4 lenghts recieving 4lb with Theatre guide another 1 1/2 lenghts back in 3rd giving 2lb, not a vintage hennessy by any means.
Report marychain1 March 8, 2014 10:25 PM GMT
I really can't have Triolo d'Alene
Report FOYLESWAR March 8, 2014 10:32 PM GMT
yeah you are right about not a vintage hennesey but when a horse is improving who knows where it will stop  ? only 7 and on an upward curve ,he may not beat bobs worth who is obviously the stand out here but his price does not interest me , triolo stays well and is a tasty price and as I said before could progress a whole heap more ! looking at the field bar the front 2 last instalment may not line up if the gong is not suitable ,if first lieutenant takes his chance he finds winning difficult ,captain chris better right handed and may not fully get the trip .
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 8, 2014 10:33 PM GMT
And he loves good ground.
Report FOYLESWAR March 8, 2014 10:37 PM GMT
aye ibrahima drying ground will be right up his street and can see him running a huge race !
Report Lion King March 8, 2014 11:16 PM GMT
I agree, this has got single figures written all over it as there looks to be a lot of weakness in the market above it and we know it stays and likes the ground.
Report jasey March 9, 2014 2:15 AM GMT
Ap on t43
Report inchcailoch March 9, 2014 9:19 AM GMT
If Triolo goes off at single figures I'd be amazed, he does not have any form in the book to say he should.
There are at least six horses with graded or course form better than him.
Report Lion King March 9, 2014 10:31 AM GMT
We will see, but Bos Worth apart, Conti will drift on the ground, LI will not run, Captain Chris has left handed problems,FL not a likely winner if it runs, The Giant Bolster is not particularly sexy and the rest are rags.  Triolo may well gather some momentum in the market!! Not saying it is the likely winner but not impossible imo.
Report judorick March 9, 2014 10:38 AM GMT
he has to defy a whole host of trends that he misses so will be a major feat if he wins
Report Ramruma March 9, 2014 10:42 AM GMT
Who is riding? It has been rumoured connections decided against booking AP.
Report GI MAC March 9, 2014 10:46 AM GMT
I'd like to see Carberry get the leg up myself, someone who can sit quiet.
Report inchcailoch March 9, 2014 10:52 AM GMT
Could hardly see him swinging on the bridle as they turn in. Not impossible he'll improve from hennessey but has to improve a lot just to place IMO.
Report Ramruma March 9, 2014 11:02 AM GMT
As @Lion King says, there are doubts around all the runners so it is not outside the bounds of possibility that Triolo can at least place in a bad year but all his form is (a) at a lower level than a normal Gold Cup, and (b) at flat, galloping tracks like, erm, Aintree.
Report Ballydoyle March 9, 2014 11:27 AM GMT
For Triolo to be the same price as First Lieutenant is laughable
Report Ballydoyle March 9, 2014 11:28 AM GMT

Report jasey March 9, 2014 2:42 PM GMT

Report FOYLESWAR March 9, 2014 6:57 PM GMT
any ideas as to who could  get the leg up on triolo ?, !
Report Ming_the_Merciless March 9, 2014 7:09 PM GMT
As soon as they said this fella was running (Triolo) my spider sense was telling me that it must be training something comparable to Bob - so either this thing is flying or Bob has regressed. As I can't see it being as good as Bob on last years run I suggest this years Bob may not be 'all that' this time around.

This has led me to conclude there will be no winner of this years race - something will scrape 3rd but that's all.Crazy
Report happyhibee March 9, 2014 7:14 PM GMT
By all accounts I think Bob is notoriously lazy. Just comes alive on track especially at Cheltenham

Report GI MAC March 10, 2014 9:02 AM GMT
Nothing confirmed yet, just plenty rumours on twitter etc.

Only thing I have heard official is that Hendo expects the rider to come from in-house.
Report Ballydoyle March 10, 2014 11:35 AM GMT
AP rides but surely this horse has plenty to find?

Ran at Cheltenham twice and beat 29l by Hunt Ball in a handicap then PU in the Paddy Power.

12/1??
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 10, 2014 11:47 AM GMT
2nd & 4th runs in britain when aged only 5, it looks like he has improved since then.
