....why Harry Fry (6 entries) is half the price of Philip Hobbs (65 entries) to be top trainer at the festival?

Taken a bit of Hobbs at 100/1 - price seems stupid, nice team of novice and/or handicap hurdlers and some outside chances in the Championship races.

Yes, a lot are double/triple entered but a lot of his handicap hurdlers will get a run.

Also, had a bit on Dickie for top jockey  (40/1) as he'll also pick up some nice rides for Nick Williams (Fred Winter, Triumph, World Hurdle - if Fingal Bay goes for Pertemps) in races where Hobbs is unrepresented.

I get the Mullins/Walsh prices but they're not my sort of bet i.e. they're definitely not overpriced.

Yep a good bet at the prices Rease. The yard have had a good season so far. Anyone know what happened to Colour Squadron?
Report Graeme83 February 28, 2014 2:36 PM GMT
McCoy is big at 9/1.
Report sintonian February 28, 2014 2:38 PM GMT
Colour Squadron going for the Byrne Group Plate apparently.

plus Cooper at 16/1

Never back in the jockey market before Sunday evening.

yep, the risk of injury did occur to me - probably beyond the point where any suspension would kick in now ...but if you extend that logically you would not back any horses until then either - albeit there is less likelihood of a seismic price change.

Reese

I think it's because, on here at any rate, all Fry's best chances come on day one and it's a back-to-lay scenario if, say, Rock on Ruby, Mendip Express and / or something like Opening Batsman go in on the Tuesday

Mendip goes for Scottish National next Rog, skipping the festival.

Fksake!!

Makes my few shekels on Fry for leading trainer look like fkin shrapnel now.

Scottish National my hoop! That win off top weight on New Years Day where the amateur rode McCoy into the ground screamed 'Festival 4 Mile Chase', I mean what the fk is wrong with these trainers!!?

rtb, at the risk of rubbing salt in the wound Opening Batsman runs at Kelso tomorrow and has no Festival entries. Confused

I think it's a rick, though probably won't matter much in the overall scheme of things once the Mullins/Walsh juggernaut gets rolling.

Though, yes, three of Fry's entries are day one and I reserve the right to change my tune if the Vukovar/ROR double goes in!

Yeah I kinda thought Opening Batsman was 50/50 for the Handicap Chase - not suprised really
Report sintonian March 1, 2014 9:15 AM GMT
Never realised Colour Squadron was 14/1 for the Byrne so had some with VC.

So far so good .. If he wins the Ryanair with Menorah and Byrne with Colour Squadron ..
