BREAKING NEWS: Cue Card will miss the Cheltenham Festival, trainer Colin Tizzard has revealed to the Racing Post.

Racing Post ‏@RacingPost  41s
Tizzard said: "He has not been quite right behind for a week and the decision has been made this morning that he will not run at Cheltenham"

Joe Tizzard at Plumpton yesterday..... "he's in great form, did a great gallop and just got to keep him in one piece now...."

Tizzard is a pr*ck. I have no problem with trainers keeping shtum, but to blatantly lie is pretty low. That being said, the only race it would have won would have been the Ryanair - too slow for the Champion Chase, not strong enough for the Gold Cup.

If those two quotes are correct its incredible. I do agree the Ryanair was the only race he could have won and would have won had he been given his chance.

WOW! What a couple of days.

If that quote of Tizzard is true, then he is a disgrace

one quote was by the trainer, one by the jokey..... maybe they are not talking to each other?

Another quote from the Cheltenham Festival Twiter page (dated to two hours ago): Joe Tizzard reports Cue Card still "90 per cent certain" to go for the Gold Cup rather than the Ryanair Chase

Ouch! Sprinter Sacre now Cue Card? Probably the two horses I was most looking forward run this year. A lot of ante post dollars done I reckon.

Shoxcking that hoss hasnt been right for a week and w@nker Joe stating hes in great form.
The integrity of this sport beggars belief.
The Tizzards need to be called to account to explain.

Argh!! I was just thinking how few of my antepost bets had gone down early. I had him at 150/1 for the Gold Cup (special double with Betfair Chase). I was looking forward to that!

amazed that Betfair don't have a rule to retrospectively void bets.

It's basically condoning theft and being a party to it by taking  their share of the commission on fraudulent bets that the backer never had any chance of winning.

The golden no. 1 rule of bookmakers / punters? If you can't win, you can't lose....

RP headline says he's injured, which is different to being 'not quite right'.

Stable been under the weather all season.

Feck me, I know it doesn't just happen to the good ones but no Sprinter Sacre, no Cue Card, no Simonsig, no Sir Des Champs. Let's hope that's the end of it but I fear it won't!Sad

if Last Instalment does n't run either, Gold Cup gallop could be very sedate.

That's such a shame, was looking forward to seeing if he could stay the Gold Cup trip on decent ground....if we get it!!!
For me he was an intriguing part of the festival.

on good ground would definitely have had an ew bet on him in the gold cup, or preferably a lumpier win bet in the ryanair.

at least connections have pulled him out now, rather than maybe running him when not 100% right.

Yes Rease, good point about the pace, gonna miss his front running style for sure.

BF had him on the top of the page as their IR advert ,only recently  put him there ,also with his nemesis SS coming out of the QM and him having been taken out of that race .....pretty unbelievable imo .

nothing surprises at this game anymore ...nowt

Ante post betting is finish ...dead in the water

I'm gutted, too Sad

I was looking forward to Cue Card having the chance to prove his doubters wrong in the Gold Cup.

At least Cue Card is ok.

That's harsh for backers! This is right out of the blue "not happy for a week"...hmmm

Oh, I see Rease says in the RP the headline says he is injured.

Hope it's nothing serious.

RP article updated now, pulled muscles in his back, could be back for Aintree.

Very bad luck.

Decision made with owners this morning, nice quote from CT:

"It is desperately disappointing for his owners and the yard, but he has looked after us for four years and it is now time for us to look after him."

They must be absolutely gutted though.

Absolute choker.
He was one of my only confident picks for the week.

Just read that Cue Card has pulled muscles.

This news hasn't properly sunk in yet.

I am so disappointed for everyone involved with the horses and all Cue Card's fans.

I'm consoling myself with the fact that we still have Cue Card, he lives to race another day.

Same goes for Sprinter.

Nothing could be worse than what happened to Darlan last year.

Racing is so full of disappointments we just have to make the most of the happy times.

Great post Makybe Diva. I'm absolutely gutted we won't see the horse at Cheltenham. Not only because he was my biggest bet but because he's become a fixture over the last four years. My favourite horse in training, but better to have him for future races than risk him not right.

a few more high profile nons and maybe the top trainers will see sense and start running these horses when there fit and not everyone holding them back for chelt, some horses have had more racecourse gallops than races

Shame  would have had the ground coming in his favour in what looks an average renewal would have made it a fascinating gold cup just hope he fully recovers to have a shot next year.
