Back something that was 1st or 2nd  last time out'.  In 2013 20 from 27 winners. In 2012 18 from 27, 2011, 20 from 27 were 1st or 2nd last time out.  In 2010 it was only 16 from 26 winners, 2009 it was 21 from 26, in 2008 21 from 25.

Pricewise finished just in front in 2013 thanks to Solwhit 16s Antepost and Flaxen Flare at 25s.  He seemed to give up on Jonjo just before Holywell won the Pertemps.  I find that if Mr Segal doesn't have success early in the week, he doesn't tend to affect the market as much as a normal Saturday.  His antepost selections for 2014 include Annie Power (Champion Hurdle 14s), Alderwood (Queen Mother 33s), Al Ferof (Gold Cup 16s), Zarkandar (12s) and Rule The World (10s, both World Hurdle), Trifolium (Arkle 8s), Morning Assembly 12s, Smad Place (14s both RSA), First Mohican (20s Supreme Novice, a flat bred?), Dynaste (12s Ryanair).  Switch on oddschecker.com at 8.01pm the instant after his selection is (allegedly) released on ipad and you can watch the price disappear.  All bookies shrink prices if they think they are about to be knocked down.  The Monday after last year's Festival, Pricewise gave Cue Card at 25s for this years Gold Cup.
Also bookies now use non runner no bet to their advantage.  Last year after the 6 day declarations the outsider of 143 runners in the Martin Pipe Conditonals was priced at 33/1.  That would have been some overround.  The more fancied ones on nrnb tend now to be bigger on the day.
