Cant understand why they are still available @ around the 9 - 10/1 Mark.....9/2 ish either to win
Both done nothing wrong in my eyes this season even though they have had to run in small fields .... Apart from Champagne Fever both have easily the best hurdle form to offer and done nothing wrong this season also both have jumped round twice
100% certain to both run in the JLT and at the odds on offer it is easily my best bet @ cheltenham as i can see them going off 7/2 - 4/1 on the day
Yeh,WC is quite rightly shorter price than Oscar. Strictly on form Oscar cant win. No 2 races are run the same though, and in March it could all be different.

I know it was really bad ground but Oscars Whiskey struggled like hell on Saturday much like stablemate Captain Conan did in winning the same race last year when a long odds on favourite. He went on to be 5th in the Jewson before winning at Aintree and I can see something similar for OW.

I'll be very surprised if Oscar Whisky wins at Cheltenham. Seems to need a small field to be at his best. He's 9 now and has never won at the Festival before. I'm not convinced by his jumping either. I'd expect that something TDS would be not quite quick enough unless the ground came up slow too.

I don't subscribe to the small fields bit at all with this horse Hardly his fault he has ended up in small fields most his life.
4th of 18 Supreme 2nd of 10 Cleeve Hurdle
Other things mentioned carry weight, but small field stats not for me

What a ridiculous thing to say Duffy, hes won something like 16 races out of 24,and of those hes lost most have been not his distance!! Hes a 2 and a half mile horse. Hes runs at the festival have been pretty good at 2m - placed in the Supreme and Churdle, which incidentally had a few runners more than the small field rubbish spouted by RUK,and now on here it seems. But he aint a 2 miler!! Not good runs when taken out of his comfort zone over 3m against Big Bucks, fair enough, but again not his distance, and certainly not his fault. Hes a genuine racehorse, who always tries to give his all,and look at his race record and you will see ultra consistency aside the 2 World Hurdle runs.
Had their been a festival Grade 1 race at his distance (like Aintree)he would have a festival or 2 imo. So to say hes never won there is just plain unfair, and imo ignorant.
Now I aint saying he will win the JLT,but reading these posts,i do feel he needs to be stuck up for!!

He's like a Thousand Stars; not really quick enough for 2m, but doesn't stay well enough for 3m. Can't doubt his attitude though.
I think the 10/1 currently still on offer has a good bit of juice in it yet. He was 12/1 before he'd even jumped a fence, so to only be 2 points shorter with form figures of 2111 going in to the festival is baffling.
I am a big Wonderful Charm fan in this race, but I rate Oscar and TDS as big threats. With Champagne Fever looking Arkle bound, I don't fancy Felix in this race too much any more, so I think those three will be very closely matched, and it will take a bl00dy good one to beat all three of them.

Well as he was top of the tree at 2 and a half over hurdles,he could be not as good over fences and still be good enough to win in March. If you think the English form is best, then hes one that has a fair chance of winning. Hes had plenty of experience round Cheltenham and in the main jumped well enough, and the 1st race against TDS - once the race actually got going- his jumping was really good. Unlike some who don't seem to know the horse very well(ruk)he will be better suited with more horses so they can get him nice and settled and into a rhythm with hopefully a faster pace, which I think would help him greatly. Hes not had his ideal conditions this season at all,yet still has 2111 against his name. Wonderful Charm looks the main threat if CF don't make it,and he has it to do to beat him again on worse terms, but its possible with his experience since that race he will strip better and fitter in March. Genuine horse, who will give his all, will he be good enough to win? don't know. But I do know he wont be far away. Never is over his distance.

I think Oscar is a favourite of lots of horse racing fans. He is courageous and genuine. At double figure prices you should beat the books as his sp will surely be lower. Do I think he can win? Then no. Spends far too much time in the air like many a long serving hurdler.

Yeh,thats another thing ruk were banging on about, jumping too high. I have seen him jump a few a tad too high but that's when they have been crawling along. I am hoping that a faster pace will see him jumping more slickly,as when he and TDS upped the pace in their 1st run. He jumps like that he will be ok,but a slow run race would concern me for sure.

First Neesom said he could not beat TDS last time they met, can't recall his reasons, but was funny seeing him lost for words after Oscar won!! Then the other day we get Mellish having a pop at his jumping in a bog!! And saying this rubbish about small fields!! He's had plenty of runs in bigger fields in his hurdle days, particular as a novice, and won .they just don't know the horse very well, and IMO are being totally unfair on him

All I said was is that I've never liked him!!!!! That's hardly a ridiculous thing to say, regardless of what he's done...I've never liked him......I do suspect that you may have got me mixed up with someone else above as I didn't question his achievements.

Why would anyone not like a horse?? Whats he done to you??? I can understand people not wanting to back a horse for whatever reasons, but simply not to like him!!?
Sorry Duffy, but I do find it ridiculous when people say they don't like a horse. He's a horse!!!
We are pretty stuck without them!!

I haven't got his picture up on my wall with dart holes all over it for heavens sake.....I don't literally not like him...deary me....I mean he's just not one of those horses that I ever fancy backing....it's a turn of phrase...that's all....with 5 weeks to go I'm concerned you are going to suffer a break down of sorts if you get upset over that type of comment budd ....what's he done to me!!

OW is a top class horse and should have ran in several Champion Hurdles. He wins a lot of race because he is quite simply better than most others. However he does not look a natural chaser to me and as someone mentioned earlier about Captain Conan flopping at Chelts after the same Sandown race,... kinda off-putting imo.

Yes, that sandown race from last year that conan won was the best example of how a horse didn't stay and finished a race practically going backwards but still managed to win, that's how desperate it was

Ok Duffy. I misinterpreted(apologise) and went off on one,but I really had it with the RUK so called experts, which most of my rant(if yer like)was aimed at.
Re Sandown: Difference is Captain Conan was dead on his feet,Third Intention even more so!!,and is best at 2 miles....imo. Oscar Whisky is a proven horse many times over 2and a halfm. Oscar finished the race well considering I thought, but he certainly had problems jumping out of that ground. I hope hes fine in 5 weeks time, and shows no ill effects.
