50-1 Gold Cup outsider runs this week.

This is a horse i loved for the RSA and was gutted when he had to miss it because I thought he was a good thing. However he has now been off a while and do they come back?His trainer says he will come on a lot for the run so may just want him jumping round here.

The only 'real outsider' you could make a genuine case for, agree.

After two years off and basically a novice? Good luck.

Agree he's a novice, but this may not be a vintage year.
And there seems to be rather a lot of people who think Big Bucks will be back as good as ever.
On the day if he makes it he's worth a bet, one for the NRNB bookies.

its not a vintage year..no kauto kicking king denman..the current crop wouldnt compare..i think its an outsiders year..

Kauto beat grade 2 horses in his first gold cup,and Denman had a heart problem and was never the same again in his second

His only bit of worthwhile form is a beating of First Lieutenant,A proverbial bridesmaid horse.

Laying the top 4 in any top graded race is a quick way to the poor house, laying the top 4 in the betting in the Gold Cup will send you straight into the gutter!

Your having a laugh Jasey aint you? The weakest gold cup, only beat grade 2 horses? I think not, in Kautos years he beat what was put to him, whom were genuine grade 1 horses in their respective years! To say any championship race is weak, is utterly ridiculous imo!

Plenty of promise in that comeback. Leaving aside the front two (and the second favourite still has a bit to prove) there isn't much else of an obviously solid/progressive nature in the Gold Cup market so 50/1 NRNB doesn't look such a bad bet. If he bombs next time you almost certainly get your money back but if he performs well the price will be cut in half. Bobs Worth is by far the most likely winner but given that he only runs a couple of times a year how confident can you be that he will turn up?

Well he has made the festival the last three years so wouldn't be overly concerned.

So that would put him in the league containing Bobsworth the current champ and fav!!!

Big difference though is LI has been off for so long.
Darn good comeback run though, and his next run is very interesting now.
Took a bit of the 50 nrfb after the race yesterday.
A big run in the Hennessey nto and that price is long gone, worth a speculative punt imo.

I take your point, but my point is that these horses can only beat whats put in front of them, Exotic Dancer was 2nd in that years gold cup rated 167 and ok Turpin Green rated rather lowly was a similar distance back in 3rd but another point i would like to make is that race is littered with outsiders placing for one reason or another.



Going back to the topic of the thread i would really love to see Last Instalment back, yesterdays run at first glance to me wasnt great, he blew up big time and i was expecting to see him blow them away! However, i watched that race without knowing what the distance was and i personally was a little distant, i was flicking channels, went onto ATR and low and behold, Last Instalment was running. The distance would have been shorter than he would like too is what am saying, the gold cup is 3mile 2 and the RSA i was gutted he missed 2 years ago is just a shade over 3 miles. 50/1 nrnb is a good bet!

I agree if LI runs on the day he will be an awful lot less than 50s

Reckon PF attempting to take the pressure off. I would be amazed if he goes for the Ryanair. Only one race for him.

You'd think with what they've been through with this horse and with the sort of form he showed yesterday...the GC would be long odds on......what possible argument is there for anything other than the GC...the issue is with the state of the ground for the horse...not the distance of the race.

You could possibly understand the original Ryanair entry but after yesterday it would be ridiculous to target any race other than the Gold Cup. Trainers seem to think it is some sort of hanging offence to nominate a single target.

They've been struck down with a nasty bout of mullinitis.

My understanding has been that Giggi's buying policy is mainly to buy GC types and if that is correct its a no-brainer. He should be 2nd favourite anyway.

WM has about 20 horses good enough to run in the supreme and is quite different from an owner with a horse with an outstanding chance in the blue riband itself.

Looks to me that the last couple of Gold Cup winners may have been a tad fortunate this one was injured.
Hes now beaten FL a lot further than Bobsworth has. Not to mention Syncronised!!

BHA to visit Fentons yard and conduct tests on chelt entries.

The priick shouldnt be allowed to run horses until this is sorted.

Seems to me that this is more like a PR exercise than any meaningful investigation. Any substances would not show in blood or urine tests unless administered very recently. Hair tests will hold traces longer, but again, depends when last administered. Stable lads out with the clippers as we speak

I smell a witch hunt

I can see O'Leary taking legal action if the BHA try to prevent Last Instalment running.

This story could run and run, needs sorting before Festival starts, don't want it casting a shadow over the first three days.

I cant see him running but owners should do the decent thing now.

It will be ironic if the horse with the dodgy legs is fit to run but isn't allowed to.

The weather could yet come to the BHAs rescue and save them from a potential PR disaster should LI run and win by scuppering the chances of LI lining up. I believe they have said he would only run on soft, given his leg problems.  Probably all praying to whatever god they believe in for a dry run up to next Friday.

Have to declare an interest here. I've backed Last Instalment @ 50/1 so I am absolutely delighted that I'm still in with a shout of getting a run for my money even though I am nrnb.

Some of the sanctimonious comments on here have been a source of great amusement notably from those who seem to be the self-appointed custodians of the "moral high ground". Stuff you and I'll be rooting for Dunguib as well.
