Surely this horse has National Hunt Chase written allover him? He really is a great jumper and takes lengths out of his rivals in the air. He was pulling further and further away from Dursey Sound at the end of that race at Catterick today over 3miles 2furlongs. I'm sure he would get the 4miles and I've not seen any other staying novice chaser than him so far this season.
Does anyone know if McCain has said what the long term plans for this horse is? He could go the RSA route too with him.
I've followed the horse for a while and have always thought he has a big race in him. The 4 miler is a possibility but a couple more performances like that beating of Dursey Sound and I'd say he'd earned his right to go in the RSA.

A brilliant round of jumping, the only slight concern was that he jumped a little bit to his right which may prove a problem in a biggish field around Cheltenham. Not enough of a worry to put me off him though as Black Thunder is a VERY good yardstick.
I thought National Hunt Chase at first, but if he can beat Black Thunder so well then the RSA has to be a possibility. The stiffer finish uphill in the RSA will be to his advantage too as he has stamina in abundance. I am really excited about him even though I've not managed to get a penny on him anywhere for Cheltenham yet.

Maybe Sint, but to be fair to him he just keeps finding and finding when you think he will be passed and never does get passed. He's such an honest horse. The day that I was at Market Rasen it looked like Baby Shine would breeze past him on the home straight but Corrin Wood kept finding and finding and won easily despite Henry Brooke dropping his whip too. It will take a very good staying chaser to beat Corrin Wood.

He said going there today he thought that BR might have been a bit too classy for him and that he didn't think he was a spring good ground horse and that he really wants cut....he didn't rule anything out though and it sounded as if with his owner you've got someone who (provided the ground is safe) would be willing to give it a go...wasn't committed to one race over the other though......and added that with a horse like him that keeps galloping anything is possible.

He was saying cut in the ground was important to him, hence the '' not a spring horse'' quote. The going today was officially Heavy, though times say it was quicker. Johnathan Neesom thinks it's Good to Soft on times!!

Hmmmm he won on Gd ground at Catterick though by 20+ lengths. The ground doesn't tend to ever be rattling quick ground anymore does it what with the watering. I'm sure their will be a little bit of cut in the ground. Maybe it's just McCain being overcautious which is what I hope. With the likes of Cinders and Ashes, Peddlers Cross and Overturn's careers all in limbo at the minute. You wouldn't think he'd skip the big races at the festivals with horses like Corrin Wood.

mccain quoted today saying RSA is preferred over the 4 miler, citing the fact he wants maguire to ride him as he believes they are a perfect match, couldn't disagree more tbh
first I wouldn't even be running him at the festival, looks the type to be suited by a rocky creek style campaign imo , second he aint gunna be winning an RSA going off all guns blazing, they've tried that style at festivals before and come unstuck, looks more a henry brooke horse to me but its up to them
