Think Dynaste was the most recent one. There was also a lot of talk also of Dunguib and Time For Rupert skipping their novice races for a championship race. Ironically none of these 3 won their novice races.

Wasn't there some none-too-serious talk that Sprinter Scare may run in the QM instead of The Arkle?
My Tent or Yours was priced up by several firms for the Champion after winning the betfair hurdle. There was some talk of him being supplemented I seem to remember, although personally thought it was a load of rubbish. Again, beaten in his novice race.
M Pipe not only entered The Real Bandit in the gold Cup in his novice seaon but let him run! Idiot.

sizing eorope was entered in the champion chase the same year he won the arkle
Master Minded wasn't technically a novice but had only won in France up until the season it won the Champion Chase from memory.
Carvills Hill ran in the 89 Gold Cup as a novice, ran in it again in 92 an still jumped like a novice.
Iris's Gift put it up to the mighty Baracouda as a novice.What a Stayers Hurdle that was!only just beat...
