ridiculously rated now, Captain conan beat him cosy first time up last year and is now 10lbs inferior

By:
yes it sticks out like a sore thumb doesn't it. Beating champion chaser (albeit on downgrade) has got the handicapper too excited. You like your ratings do you duffy?
By:
Could have improved though. We'll see today ... back or lay ... back or lay .. Evens.
By:
not really howdi, a horse can win a few races and go up and up just by the fact it's won them regardless of what it's beat, that was a good performance at sandown though, but I'd be disappointed if Captain conan isn't superior to SDG full stop regardless of what the handicapper thinks, his opposition today isn't very strong either is it, there's only KC in the field that could still turn out to be better than what we've seen if they ever manage to sort him out and he doesn't suffer any shocks along the way!!
By:
He is such a good jumper, i reckon he will turn out to be the 2nd best 2 mile chaser this season.
By:
The problem with having the likes of SS around is top class horses such as cue card who is a top class 2 miler, don't run over the trip apart from a prep run perhaps, personally, whatever happens to cue card this season, for me, he'll be the 2nd best 2 miler around, who'd you fancy in a match over 2 miles, SDG or CC, only one winner for me.
By:
that's much better

Jamie Moore said this morning that he doesn't seem happy at Cheltenham so they might run elsewhere. On todays evidence he would only have Sprinter Sacre ahead of him if the QM chase was run at Sandown.
By:
SS is different class to all of them as we all know. IMO SDG is number 2 on soft or heavy, but on decent ground he'll get found out and don't think he'd live with Cue Card if they dropped back.
By:
sire de grugy didn't jump great last time over the Cheltenham fences but agree he was impressive at sandown, could be placed in the champion chase (even win if something goes wrong with sprinter sacre in the next 8-10 weeks
By:
Totally agree with you sick, had a bit of 16s off laddies for that very reason. With the likely hood of there being a small field again, and with antepost rules it being filthy each way it had to be took!
By:
bit surprise the laid you e/w with as ou say it looks a "proper e/w race"
By:
id expect them to keep him away from Cheltenham and target will be sandown again imo
By:
I'll be amazed if they miss Cheltenham as I doubt there'll be more than 6 runners and good prize money to be had.
By:
I hope that Sprinter Sacre recovers from his problems and runs at Cheltenham but when a horse keeps dropping out of planned engagements, I am suspicious about their well being. I would not consider a QM ante post on him until he runs.
By:
I agree Sageform. Especially where Henderson is concerned.
By:
Fair play to them for taking SS on
By:
no doubt he will still be underrated

By:
Bolted in today and SS will have to be close to his best to beat him at Cheltenham.
By:
SDG was brilliant yesterday and I really believe he is top class on soft ground or worse. However, even if Sprinter is absent at Cheltenham would you want to back him at short odds on a course where he has not won before and been beaten twice. Aintree he's been beaten all 3 times he's been there. I reckon it's all down to good ground even though 1 defeat at Chelt was on official soft. I would be really wary of him at Cheltenham, but wish him well.
By:
When he beat Empire Levant over hurdles at Kempton ,though only officialy g/s everybody was concerned about the soft ground for later pm , Jamie , when asked how the ground was replied .....' not soft enuff '. It also seems from his comments before the Scilly Isles that the horse is much better with a target to aim at , whether thats another way of saying held up am not sure . You would also think , like Captain Chris in reverse , he would be pounds better the right way round .

rather pleasing result

I cannot find where my many posts on this wonderful horse are, but
WHERE ARE THE DOUBTERS NOW 16/1 KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM |
By:
Well done to all sire de grugy supporters, we knew he would win!!!
By:
Similar pattern to the rest of the season, only competition was beat before the first fence, so another procession awaited for SDG, how's that for sour grapes....well done winners, thoroughly deserved victory.

Scenes like this in the winners enclosure make you remember why we love jumps racing

Why continue to go on and on about a fooken horse that is not there, really makes my blood boil!!!
Clearly there must be something up with CC but he was 100% fit at the start of the race, something i have always believed as there are vets at the start of every race etc etc. It just was not to be as simple as that! CC is not the horse they think he is. Not saying something is wrong now, though obviously and if they do find something wrong, i hope he makes a speedy recovery, so maybe, he can come back for the rematch, and SDG can trounce him again ![]() |
By:
I 'm glad that I didn't scroll back to my comment about Jamie saying he might not run at Cheltenham. He is easily my best result so far this week and it could not happen to nicer people. How he went out to 11/4 with 8lb in hand on all ratings is a mystery.

By:
4/1 with Fred around 1pm too quite ridiculous
By:
Oi Oi
He is back ![]() |
By:
Yes! Welcome back SDG.
If he can make that much improvement after one run from a lay off, watch out Sprinter layers!!!!! |
By:
Fantastic performance. Had to back him at 9/2 after that. Should go off fav.
By:
Should be fav i think but got a feeling aout Moley.

Great to see the old SDG back again. Haven't got a penny on him for this years QMCC, but if Sprinter doesn't win, I hope it is SDG who takes advantage. I stood up for him all the way up to the QMCC last year, and I got the most joy out of his win than any others at last years festival.
Fair play to the Moore's for today. Would be a slight worry for me though having three runs in about 5 weeks, and this years lineup looks in a different league to last years. That said, everyone loves to see a good weight carrying performance, and he is a horse you can't not like. |
By:
I would suggest that beating Mister Grez 9 lengths when the latter was a stone wrong at the weights would be the very least that could be expected from a prospective champion chaser. No proof that he's back to last year's level IMO, and as has already been pointed out a return to last year's level may not be enough in any case.
By:
^^ they weren't out of the handicap though (his opponents) Jim Bo (C4) thinks it would have needed a 170 performance so nothing to be sniffed out.
By:
Defo howdi and 170 performances would place in most QMCC's, at current prices he is a bet to nothing each way!
