Been smashed up on here for the RSA last few days

Just can't see him having the speed to win an Arkle myself.

^^^ yet he had enough speed to beat MTOY!!!

Howdi. Is that really how you interpreted the race?! Couldn't be more different to how I saw it. Great ride from Ruby. And CF looked a bit one paced and just outstayed him was how I saw it.
It's also total guesswork on my part, but I also don't think he will be a very slick jumper. Something most Arkle winners will need to be. |

it depends on the market. They were 8/1 "the new one" standout for months when everyone else was shorter and me several times on the net, shops and through others. It was well under here at the time. Not saying they will stand a bet on every market though just have to pick the spots

Funny CCM but I feel the complete opposite. He is a an athletic, lightly framed horse who looks every inch a steeplechaser. Didn't they consider going straight over fences with him a la Florida Pearl? Also fair to point out though that his alternative novive hurdle target to the Supreme was the Bartlett, so WPM must feel he will stay! |

Its all just beginning ff
5 months of this to look forward to!I agree he looks built for fences. But I think he will be a Jewson / RSA type rather than an Arkle type. Dont know why, just cant shake the feeling when I see him. |
|
By:
you don't win a supreme without having pace pal. For what its worth I think this champagne fever is some Cheltenham horse who gets the hill as well as any horse ive seen for many a year.

By:
becareful cammy lad rumour has it he may end up in the RSA
|
|
By:
front running tactics have proven extremely ineffective in the Arkle for many years so for his backers sakes I would want to see him track something else that goes off like a scalded cat

It would be most unusual for a Supreme winner going over fences to end up in the 3 mile novice chase. However, we are taking about Willie here, so anything is possible.
Take your point about front runners in the Arkle judo but you can probably make the same point about the Supreme. If he takes to fences well - I think he will, CCM thinks the opposite! - then he will be a leading contender for the race. This sort of speculation is almost as interesting as the racing itself! ![]() |

It is indeed :)
Just for the record, I dont think he wont take to fences. I just think he will be more of a staying chaser. Im not sure Howdi. Al Ferof is a good example and I think he is comparable to CF myself. Had enough pace to win a Supreme as it became more of a staying performance, yet probably wouldnt have had the speed to win an Arkle and now looks more of a staying chaser. I think CF is more like Al Ferof than someone like Grandouet is. |

By:
Ruby dictated the pace on CF,and on AF he came from the back,so completely different running styles.
Agree though that they will both be better off over longer trips. CF does not have Sprinter Sacre to contend with so he may get away with the Arkle,Grandouet could be a huge threat but I doubt hes a SS in the making. |
