The only good thing about this, is that it will show further evidence of his horses not being able to jump fence well enough. He's not even in the same Parish as Henderson and Nicholls. I really wish he would keep his horses in Ireland, until Cheltenham. Look at Boston Bob. Very few top trainers would have made a mess of a horse like that in the way WPM did.

I think you're being quite harsh Graeme, for every Boston Bob there's a Sam Winner.

I don't see the comparisons. Boston Bob should have won the RSA, but once again a Mullins horse has jumping issues, just like every other good chaser he has had over the last few years. He's good at the hurdles game, but when it comes to the chases there are many better. Even after Cheltenham Mullins decided that there was to be no jockey change on BB, and then the horse gets another poor ride in Ireland.

Paul Townend is the stable's second retained jockey, he was always going to ride whichever horse Ruby rejected. He gave Boston Bob a great ride at Leopardstown which everyone seems to forget.

Hopefully this year this thread will keep records of all Mullins chasers rather than glory in the fallers.

People still think he would have won the RSA, surely not, the winner lost stacks of ground on the home turn, had to be switched out wide, and both he and the 2nd were almost back to BB as they jumped the last.

Paul Townend cost BB winning the RSA. He made a big race move around the bend to get to the lead. Almost certainly used up a lot of petrol and contributed to his tired fall. Ruby made a mistake rejecting him for Unioniste.

A fine haul for this stage of the season.

BB would have won with Ruby up no doubt but tbf Paul Townend gave him an absolute super ride at Leopardstown.
