Our Conor will begin his new campaign in the Grade Two Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary on 6 October.

The Dessie Hughes-trained four-year-old was one of the most impressive winners of the Triumph Hurdle for some considerable time but was ruled out of a seasonal swansong at the Punchestown Festival because of soft ground.

Bought by Barry Connell after his Cheltenham romp, his new owner is excited at what the future may hold.

"I saw him two days ago in a farm about 10 miles from the Curragh and he's in great order," said Connell.

"There was no temptation to run him on the Flat, he was running all through last summer and then had a winter hurdling. He never got a proper break.

"He'll probably stay out for another month and then we'll bring him in and pop him on the walker during the day and put him in the paddock at night.

"We're looking at running him in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary on October 6.

"That should leave him spot on because after that if he's a Champion Hurdle horse the races pick themselves.

"He'll head for the Morgiana, Leopardstown at Christmas, the Irish Champion Hurdle and then Cheltenham if everything goes to plan."

Champion hurdle for the first time in several years has a huge injection of new talent next year. As does the World Hurdle - great times ahead.
