Interesting stuff Howdi.
As a long serving time anorak, the going adjustments I used in 2000 (when it was officially g/f good in places and good) would render todays allowances as suggesting the ground was unraceable.
Samakaan who holds the new course 2m chase record gained in the Grand Annual, was awarded a topspeed of 160!!! His handicap rating that day was 132 - so only two stone improvemnt.
Needless to say he never won again from ratings of 142 down to 120.
