Been away from this game for a few years so please forgive my ignorance, but my feeling is that the record is probably a very poor one? I think I used to believe that bumpers were good trials for the longer novice hurdle races. Is this right? And if so, does that mean I better stop thinking of backing Champagne Fever each way?

CF looks a stayer to me. i tend to follow the placed horses from the bumper, i put all me eggs in one basket regarding this race though and backed MTOY a while ago, but pique sous is the one to carry on the bumper form for me, it will run a big race imo

Thanks AD. I agree with you a22, CF does look a stayer, but that might not be a bad thing if the going is on the soft side of good to soft. My sense is that speed horses have only prospered in this race latterly because the going has invariably been fast in recent years.. I'm going to be backing Jezki to win but taking advantage of the get your money back if MTOY wins offer when doing so Cool

i think montelado won the bumper at the festival and then won the very next race at the festival

Phew, looks academic anyway as market for 3m Nov Hdl would suggest that's his target, which will back up the theory he aint got the speed for this. Here endeth this thread.
