I had this as my NB bet of the festival, but i'm not too sure if he will appreciate the better ground as much as the rest of the field. His sires progeny statistics show a much better strike rate on heavy than good-firm. Should this be a worry?

Very surprised if this gets up the hill with its flat speed breeding

By the time the Triumph comes around, we shall have a far better idea of the going.

the horse has won at Navan, Naas, Roscommon & Leopardstown which are probably 4 of the 5 stiffest finishes in Irish Racing. The 5th is Galway where he was beaten a short head by a plot horse. His form on the track wouldnt lead you to having many concerns about getting up the hill.

Flat form less than mile n a half...Jeremy in its breeding...not for me

Agreed Bally - those are the two issues with him. Looks very impressive however

Countrywide Flames sire won a 5f sprint. Don't listen to the two above me on this occasion, especially Ballydoyle who i'd be suprised if he was even old enough to bet. Being flat bred is not a negative for the Triumph. Infact it's the opposite.

he has sadlers wells in his breeding. If the horse gets beat it won't be because of stamina.

Very true Graeme, i like the horse and have it at 16-1 AP, but may well look for an alternative on the day depending on the going.

Don't worry, you'll get your own back Bally, when FL goes for the Ryanair. All the talk is of rain, which will send him to the Ryanair.  Whoops

Looks a solid each way bet, the Irish have a poor record in this though; due to the 3yo's running on completely different ground all winter?

Graeme, I absolutely was not saying that being flat bred is an issue, far from it. The point I was alluding to is that 9/10 winners were by a G1 winning sire, and all of the winners who had run on the flat had placed at 1.4m+.

I certainly wouldn't put anyone off backing but those are two trends he would need to overcome

Katchit was thoroughly exposed plop on the flat before hurdling.

He had also come 2nd twice at 1.5 miles and was by a winner or the arc

I know Tory.

But he was exposed before hurdling, more runs than Our Conor and a lower rating.

You should probably read who Our Conor is related to if you want to talk breeding.

ground shouldn't be an issue as he looks to be a good mover and the NH stats regarding his sire are misleading because his (few) jumping progeny have mainly raced in Ireland and could only race on bad ground so far

The 3rd dam was some mare , I remember her running a cracker she was...Having backed Dakali against him lto out , Hoping to add to my ante post bet on him ,To say i was shocked is putting it mildly  ...I 'm hoping against hope that he can turn it arond next week ...With that pedigree you should have no worries about him coming up the hill ....
