HARVEY SAID LAST NIGHT AT PREVIEW IN ARMAGH HE WANTS TO RUN IN GC GIGGINSTOWN WANT TO RUN IN WH BUT WONT RUN ANYWHERE IF SOFT IN NOT MENTIONED IN THE GOING SO UNLIKELY TO TRAVEL
By:
+ HE TIPPED PEDDLERS FOR WH BUT IF BOG RUNS THINKS IT SHOULD WIN AS IN HIS OPINION IT STAYS 4M

Cheers Dec.

think this will only be resolved at the last minute.they know hes a big player in either race if its soft ground or heavy,so will wait until the going is more definite.
makes sense to me. |
By:
I found the jockeys comments immediately after his last race very interesting, something along the lines of; he felt the horse will be fine on Cheltenham good ground.
By:
They don't like to give much away. Some of these Irish trainers try and make race placements look like a game of chess. Nobody is hiding from any of their horses. There is nowhere else for the opposition to go. Cue Card is not going to run away from FL and face Sprinter Sacre for an easier option, and nobody is going too care where Bog Warrior goes, because there are no alternative races.
By:
well i care, ive backed him in both the GC and WH,and can get my money back if hes a nr in the GC.
By:
He won't be running in any gold cup. If the ground isn't too fast it will the the WH.
By:
probably right graeme, but he is still in both races.
He would have more chance in the WH i would think, but you just never know with these people!! |
By:
Nah. No way would they send him for a GC.
By:
hope thats so mate
By:
although i did think 66 nrnb at the time was pretty good value, and could still prove to be if he ran in a heavy ground Gold Cup.
By:
I genuinely wouldn't even take 66 on him turning up. Not even 2 quid.
By:
fair enough mate.
One think i have learned over the years at the festival - never be afraid to expect the unexpected. |
By:
I'd run him in the WH whatever the ground. I've seen "soft ground specialists" turn out pretty handy on good ground before when they were finally given the chance. It'll probably turn out they're right that he needs soft, but with a prize fund of £275k for the race, it's definitely worth giving it a go.
By:
I see he is now in to 12 on here and as short as 7's elsewhere NRNB.
I presume his ticket for the journey over the Irish Sea has now been booked. |
By:
Good,WH or GC?
WH would be fav,but never know!! |
By:
I'm on for the WH but I may take a bit of 66/1 NRNB on the GC.
By:
I'm on him at 290/1 for the WH
still praying every day.... but not confident he turns up, given trainers feelings over the ground. Can't believe they would run him in the GC given his campaign this season. |
By:
C'mon Tony, there's soft in the ground description, book his ticket on the ferry......
By:
They wont run him the GC ffs. If they wanted more than one runner in the GC then it will be SDC and First Lieutenant.
By:
I want him to run in the world hurdle...
By:
I know. There is zero chance of him running in the GC.
By:
Still in at the latest stage though, its in their thoughts, like it or not.
By:
If he runs in the gold cup he will have the distinction of having the oddest prep ever ,three runs over hurdles. Harvey some trainer if he pulls this one off. All stats and trends out the ****g window.Nuts
. But on the other hand has had a super prep for world hurdle and with cut in the ground would seem to have a great shout in an open looking race. |
By:
I wouldn't rule out the GC for the reason that this is likely to be the only time BW who Tony thinks a GC horse gets soft ground. He is 9 year old- it has to be a big temptation
By:
Tony Martin revealed at Naas this afternoon that a decision on which race Bog Warrior will run in at Cheltenham has yet to be made.
The 9yo son of Strategic Choice is entered in both the World Hurdle and the Gold Cup. Martin said after the win of the Dedigout this afternoon: “He is still in both races. He is in good order and I’m still waiting on the phone call to see which race he will run in. "Hopefully he will travel over well and he will run unless the ground goes against him." ![]() |
By:
So the owner will decide, fair enough.
He has 1 maybe 2 already in the Gold Cup and only him in the WH. But SDC and FL would prefer better ground,so its possible if its looking like being soft later in the week that he may want a soft ground horse in the big race. Reckon he will be left in both to the last possible moment. |
By:
That's one way of looking at it, RE a soft ground Gold Cup. Some decision if they did run him in the big one given his campaign this season, one chase where he fell, followed by 3 hurdle races.
Still, nothing susrpises me in this game. If he did run in the Gold cup I'd be gutted not to be on him, love the horse, so had a bit of the 50/1 NRNB on offer. Interesting that Pidddy Powir are only 20's. |
By:
question marks over every single runner one way or the other in gold cup nothing stand out rock solid, and a similar situation in world hurdle with big bucks out of the equation, i would make it about 60-40 in favour of world hurdle given his prep this season but who knows they could be tempted by the gold cup if fl goes ryanaire .
By:
Declared for The World Hurdle, come on The Bog......
By:
Still in the Gold cup, must admit my enthusiasm of him running is waining, given that the ground is drying all the time
![]() |
By:
Fully agree mac, clerk of the course has'nt a clue what the ground will be.
By:
Hope you locked in some £££ in-running GI MAC. Thought he was going to lag up 2/3 out.
By:
Gutted......
By:
Bog Warrior fractured a leg in the race.
Must say I thought it was odd how little he found when asked - that explains it. |
