Duncan...in that case can I have some Evens please? Before you say yes you my want to check some basic facts like how many 9 year olds have run in the mares hurdles and what odds they were. Just a thought :-)

If we're talking trends for the Mares Hurdle, Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh have teamed up to win four of the five runnings. Read into that what you will Wink

exactly RF...if Mullins & Walsh team up with one under age 9 it will be something to bet on

It's a massive crime against racing that she's running in the mares race. Obviously she will win it, but so what.

When: 01 Mar 13 11:48
Disagree with you Barry, it's not her or mullins fault she is so far ahead of the rest if  was her owner I'd be more than happy to collect that cheque every year.

the real shame is that there's even a two and a half mile mares only hurdle race at the Festival.

Thank goodness the race has had a Quevega imo.

As shes won all but one running of this race no real suprise a 9 year old has never won it!!!!

Excellent haul here Duncan.

Thread obviously in response to Graeme's "organic v synthetics" stats thread.

Rubbish reader of stats. As robbo stated its won 4 out of five. I say no horses without a Q in its name can win mares hurdle.
On at 10/11 and happy

they might need to fit him with blinkers, his eye could wander with all them fillies in the race

Course it's not their fault inchcailoch, but she would be a strong favourite for a genuine championship race, and to duck it is very sad imho and shows the owners have no concept of racing as a sport. Or at least it would be a genuine championship race if she was in it.

Sure, you can make a case on pure financial grounds for going for the soft target, but the only conclusion you could come to if all you were worried about was money is don't own racehorses at all. I don't get it.

It's yet another example of course of a so-called championship race being degraded by the ever expanding festival. If we didn't have the mares race, she would be in the WH where she belongs.

Duncan, it never fails to baffle me how reliably bites can be had for even the most simple bait! (Not that this one was especially simple- but most on the HR forum are).

You're also 1.01 to have people come and post after this carping on about Quevega being female and the 9 year old stat Laugh

obviously themares race is of no real interest to long term festival goers, mostof the runners b8m around gaffes in ordinary races all year then run in a CHAMPIONsHIP  race.the race is a waste of time and quevegas participation in the race makes it a boring waste of time.the owners are obviously easily pleased it seems watching thee nag beat worse nags.i guess you have to accept that even without  big bucks i the race they know she wouldnt be sightd in a world hurdle gainst real horses.if they get their jollies watchig their horse beat a loa of trees once a year then so beitpersonally i hope it gets beat and the owners never get a decent horse ever again.

No 9 year old has even won the Mares hurdle, well, considering it started in 2008 and out of 5 runnings Quevega has won it 4 times I would,'t place counterfeit money on your stat being useful!
