Cheltenham is set to dry up over the next couple of weeks (usually in time for the festival).  Many people on the forum are 'fearful' of good ground improvers, but who do you think hasn't had their ground during this saturated season?  Finian's Rainbow has hated the heavy going, but will the better ground see championship improvement?

It will need too,10 years old now possible if not certain his best days are gone.
For the pure racing (not betting)one horse who will be even better is Sprinter Sacre, might win by 2 fences now!!!

I wonder if stepping up to the Ryan Air would be worth it or have a breather in the QM ready for another tilt at the Melling Chase?  Horses like Fishers Cross and dare I say it My Tent or Yours could be very vulnerable to a good ground outsider coming out of the pack.  Could be some great value on offer this year!

they say the good ones go on any ground, so some of those winning on soft/heavy could improove for the good ground imo
Report festivalfanatic February 22, 2013 8:59 AM GMT
Absolutely right alleged. If they are good movers, they will improve for better ground irrespective of previously winning in a bog. Both Overturn and the monster spring to mind....the QMCC could be scarey!

Albertas Run

Whether he still has it at his age is another matter but just does not perform on any going with 'soft' in the title

It's what ive been saying all winter, and people were only 2 weeks ago saying we could have a soft ground festival given the water table and all that borarolix!

There will be a couple very weird results, horses surprisingly running 'poorly' at this seasons festival, that is for sure with the only valid excuse being the ground!

Horses that have missed all the boggy ground, will defo have an advantage!

Grandouet and First Leiutenant are the two I am most interested in on good ground.

And Balthazar King if you count the donkey race; which I dont!

Sintonian's post took the words right out of my mouth. There'll be plenty of treats for the kids if that treble comes up and Reve De Sivola in World Hurdle will also be fine on decent ground, not bothered that they keep saying he needs heavy. Didn't need heavy in his Neptune second to Peddlers Cross.

Except FL and BW could now run in the same race boosterConfused

Anything's possible, Seathestars and we've all got to start praying our fancies don't get injured/sick over the next couple of weeks.
Report wondersobright February 22, 2013 5:01 PM GMT
agree with grandouet and balthazar king, only thing that worries me about them is grandouet's setback and the x-cross country doesn't drain like the main tracks (could easily be soft when good/good to soft on old course)

The New One has loads of top form on good ground and at Cheltenham too. Pont Alexandre been running in small fields in Ireland on heavy. Good ground could see them flip flop in the betting.

Colour Squadron.

By Old Vic. I generally think the Old Vics bounce of good ground.

Class open company hprses go on anything as their form is established, but check the leg action of novices when making ground predictions. Open company form is all there and all that.

How can you put Colour Squadron up on a Cheltenham festival forum? It would struggle on skeggy beach  .
What race do you think that could win?
Report Mister Westsound February 24, 2013 10:28 AM GMT
Pique Sous in the Supreme on anything with good in the description - big danger imo also reckon Champagne Fever will run well in Neptune or the Tattie race
Report John.W.Henry. February 24, 2013 9:06 PM GMT
ideally you want a horse that has proved itself on festival ground in races which have been run at championship pace.

If they have avoided the horrid winter ground and been put by cleverly by their astute trainers then its all good.

I have found a few Cool
