I really fancy, Rock on Ruby, Overturn & Long Run all to finish in the first 3. Would any bookmaker accomodate me?
I don't want to do an e-w treble, unless I really have to

have to say an ew treble is the biggest mug bet on the market and don't be offended please...

to have one winner is a result to have 2 is beautiful but when the third one gets stuffed you have done your money on what should of been a good day...ask yourself one thing when the money goes down on the third horse...do you want that much on it...

the ew treble is also horrible because when the third horse places when the first 2 have won you only have a place treble...the worst bet on the market imo
Report robbo69 February 19, 2013 12:32 PM GMT
Harry

Interseting theory but as the original post says he only wants the place treble!!
Thats like saying the double is a bad bet if the second leg gets beat isn't it??
At the time of placing your bets don't you 'think' all are going to win??
If the answer to that is no you must have more money than sense.
And as your post please dont be offended just an opinion.Cool

He probably backs them in singles too. E/w trebles usually small fun bets to try and shoot the moon in case you are on fire.
Report judorick February 19, 2013 12:52 PM GMT
if you are on fire, going to the moon is prolly a good idea, no air

robbo just responding to how the thread was going

i actually would love to place a place treble but you can't.... but ew win treble just isn't a good bet imo

anyway of course you think you are going to win we all want that...

the same applies to an ew double also a poor bet because of what i said above

if you have a 10 pounds ew double at odds 10-1 and 4-1 and one wins and one places your return at quarter odds is 70 pounds so the win part is void

anyway do plenty of win doubles and trebles myself but not ew as doubles the hemorrhage and is to hard to take when you should be winning....plus you can off lay on other horses for the same stakes as you would put down on the win part

anyway lots of iffs and pans pots and pans... at the end of the day ew doubles and trebles are a sh1te bet and would not advise it to anyone
Report alleged22 February 19, 2013 3:01 PM GMT
ive done ok with festival E/W trebles, of course the right horses at the right prices but as harry says

"to have one winner is a result to have 2 is beautiful but when the third one gets stuffed you have done your money on what should of been a good day"

at the right prices its a life changing day mate and still a good payout on the place Wink
Report judorick February 19, 2013 5:15 PM GMT
I will be doing permed ew multiples in the handicaps, with up to 4 or 5 in each race. Used this over the years and you can get some really big priced placed like Tullamore Dew who I got at 80/1 (20s to be placed) in the Coral Cup behind Spirit River the other year. If you can then get a couple placed at 16, 20, 25 maybe then the cumulative odds just in the place can build quickly. I believe a punter won a huge sum with a similar bet just a couple of years ago.
Report harry callaghan February 19, 2013 7:17 PM GMT
judo we are pals but the horse isn't 20's to place...sorry have to have this argument with a friend all the time

another thing what if 2 of the 20's shot won in the ew treble you would just be payed on the place part and isn't 4-1 to place on your 16's shot as you have lost the win part

don't mean to argue but this situation needs arguing
Report harry callaghan February 19, 2013 7:18 PM GMT
I myself do permed trebles but only win betting
Report sageform February 19, 2013 7:30 PM GMT
I bet place only more than win these days on Betfair but always single bets. You could pile your winnings on the second, then the third horse in your treble if you want to but you would only get the prices on the day.
Report liam the lips February 19, 2013 7:38 PM GMT
Dunno how u can say an EW double is a poor bet  - my bigggest returns are nearly always from this bet. I also find it easier to get these bets on compared to larger singles.
Report judorick February 19, 2013 7:46 PM GMT
it's 20 times your stake in the roll up

not saying its 20/1 your money

it's a kind of lottery bet, do 5 races, 4 or 5 runners at 20/1 plus (up to 100 easily), perm them together and see if you can get at least one placed in every race

if you get one placed in each of the first 3 races just the roll up money going on to each of the 4 or 5 selections in race 4 and 5 can be substantial

Harry mate don't confuse the multiplier with true odds to your money, alright
Report harry callaghan February 19, 2013 7:54 PM GMT
depends how much you are putting on liam?? obviously your biggest returns are going to be from this bet as it is a double and picking 2 decent winners is going to pay... it is no different from having a win single and then doubling up the wager...

if your having small stakes I dare say this can provide a decent return for your money

but you are saying it is easier for you to get on so you must be putting on plenty

so if i was having 200ew double on a 2 10-1 shots as an easy example and one wins and one only places I would be very disappointed as have missed a decent pick up as this bet is only worth a 5-2 pace double which at the combined odds is actually only a 5-1 winner for your 400 pounds

where as 200ew at 10's is a 2900 pounds pick up plus another 700 for the other single and obviously when one doesn't place you have the 10-1 winner in the bag and a decent profit for your hard work

I accept this bet is ok when betting singles and the double but obviously this is also more outlay of stakes and more hemorrhage to your betting bank
Report harry callaghan February 19, 2013 8:01 PM GMT
judo i'm not confused thought you wereLaugh

my mate always says got 4-1 the place on a placed 16-1 shot when he hasn't he has got 2-1 with the losing part of his stake

I lye its 6-4 getting myself confused nowGrin
Report GoldCupWinner February 19, 2013 8:06 PM GMT
I've got my eye on a fantasy treble on 3 horses in the handicaps with previous form and competitive marks. At 33/1 25/1 and 20/1 surely you wouldn't begrudge £10 e/w to win £190k :D. Still a £4k return for the places.
Report judorick February 19, 2013 8:07 PM GMT
nah you know me better than that bruv Laugh

it's quite a useful bet with the handicaps all having 4 places

the hard bit is getting one place in enough legs so that you overcome the number of perms, and why you need big prices so the cumulative odds build sufficiently

yes I'm always telling the people who back 10/1 shots ew that they are not really getting 5/2 Laugh
Report liam the lips February 19, 2013 8:23 PM GMT
Yep that's obv the luck of the draw harry, however i wudn't be disappointed if one won and one framed as this is still a winning bet. What if or if only will always be a regular part of my vocab as a punter and ive learnt to accept this - maximizing my return is always the primary concern, my dad always said to me 50% of this game is finding them and the other 50% is how you back them. Putting your stake on the first hoss and then shifting the lot on to the second is never how it happens for two reasons - bookies and bottle, the bookies are less likely to accept 100& of the 2nd wager and the punter is less likely to risk 100% from the first leg. The double allows this and even if the 2nd leg fails which they obv often do, you've still had the hope burning brightly for however long !
Report harry callaghan February 19, 2013 9:02 PM GMT
all very nice liam and your dad has taught you well as staking is key...very fair points though liam points I respect and this obviously works for you and others i see...

however am mercenary and equate these particular bets as a long term losing in terms of maximizing profit from your wagering...ask yourself the question or get your accounts up and if you are showing a profit from ew doubles in the long run how much in comparison would you of made if you had bet them in singles for the same stake... would be interested to know...

anyway we all want the big touch and if it works for you guys and you are happy to let decent price winners go in ew trebles that is fair enough but for me if i'd backed 2 winners in an ew treble and the third was unplaced i would be hanging from the rope for the effort i put into the game

anyway just placed a 80 pounds win treble on at fishers cross (bet of the meeting), pont alex and long run Devilwe live in hope but the singles are more important to me and if the cross gets beat my week will be a wash out

cannot stand meat loaf so can assure you that classic won't be ringing!!
Report brandyontherocks February 20, 2013 2:05 PM GMT
really can not grasp how you would be so disappointed if the final leg didn't win in an ew treble but are happy to put a win treble on?????????  if your first two selections win and your last doesn't all your hard work would of been fruitless too..
