What was your best ante post Cheltenham winner?

I'd say for adulation it was probably Binocular winning the CH a few years back. He apparenly wasn't going to contend the race, and the rest as they say....

I backed Call Equiname at 25s for the 1999 Champion Chase just before he won the Victor Chandler in January that year. Seeing Mick Fitz taking a pull between the last 2 fences is still one of my all time favourite festival moments

I was on that Albertas run bet at 33/1 after reading it on here. Never stopped backing him since. Bloody love that horse.

Also backed Punjabi for the Champion Hurdle at about 20's

sublimity in the champion for me backed it at 460 ,280 260 100 80 and 40s on here ,bought me a new work van

Not a massive price but probably my most important winning antepost bet was Big Bucks 2010 World Hurdle win.
After he won 2009 race i was convinced he was a horse to follow and started nibbling away at the 7/2 for the following year.
Kept having bits and bobs on all through the summer and only stopped backin him after the Newbury win in November when the price collapsed.
Group of us go down for the week every year and i was having a bad time of it betting wise and just kept thinking to myself Big Bucks will pull me out.
When he came there cantering upsides Time For Rupert i swear ive never shouted a horse home as much in my life.Happy day that was.

Rooster for me too at 40's, an 11 length win helps to ease the tension no end. Also had him in a double with Truckers Tavern fr the Gold Cup at 20's but some horse called Best Mate got in the way of that!

pujabi 33s at billys about 4-5 days before the champ hurdle ,almost potless on the day was sitting at home watching the race on the box with a mate who is a fecking bokk and had to bite my lip as he was fighting out the finish with celest halo and binocular ,had a massive cheer when he won and it set me up for a really good festival happy daze !

None of my particularly big priced or large bet anteposts punts have come in yet. (reverse-bokking myself for this year obv). Best was Peddlers Cross in the Neptune at 11s but it was only a reasonably small bet.

no joist i was almost potless on the tuesday had about a tenner for the 4 days if punjabi had got turned over ,thankfully he did the buissness .......nothing  worse than being potless for the festival.........was not on betfair then ,nowadays make sure i have plenty of ante post bets on here and plenty of reserve cash for the 4 days ..........not long to go now ,can almost taste it !

almost got a life changer multiple  up 2 years ago still hurts thinking about what could have been  ....... arkle sizing euro 13/2 winner,big zeb 12s won , weapons amnesty 12s won ,singles doubles ,trebles and a20 pound each way acca going on to cooldine in the gold cup

Detroit City @ 33/1 for the Triumph Hurdle after winning his Novice at Newbury.

Newmill 33-1 but that was due to Segal tipping it. Quite happy with 7-2 I got on Best Mate straight after his first GC win for the following year.

Finian's last year for me. Not a massive price, granted, but was just so sure it was going to win. Backed it from 12/1 all the way down to the day.

Had Big Bucks at 16s for his first World Hurdle (straight after he fell at Newb)in a double with Punjabi at 12s for the CH - Happy Days!

Tidal Bay in the Arkle; kept the faith even though everyone was all over Noland and was great to see him romp home :). Had it in a double with Voy Por aswell for the champion chase. Bloody Master Minded!!!

lot of talk about Alberta run, i backed it one year to win the gold cup at 200+. it went for the ryanair and won but on good ground i still wonder what might have been...

Trabolgan in the RSA ... backed it all year, everytime I had a win would put a little more on it, went to Haydock to batter Lord Transcend in the big handicap (he won by street) lumped more on Trabolgan only to see it get STUFFED out of sight that day in a novice chase, was devastated... Lo and Behold, better ground at Cheltenham and it gets the job done.

Trabolgan is responsible for me doing my conkers in every year since but I would not change that day for anything!!

Fantastic Memories

Synchronised (12's and 14's) and Inglis Drever (11/1) for the 1st world hurdle. Synch more money but relative for the time and my betting size at the time Inglis felt a much bigger win.

25/1 RSA in December when he won at Cheltenham. Ended up 4/1 with Champ looking for dangers rounding the turn

33/1 Ryanair when he went off at 16s and beat an overhyped Poquelin

22/1 Champion Hurdle after being placed 3rd year before

Not an Ante post punt but early morning bet on Pigeon Island in the Grand Annual, was having a shocking festival after Kauto falling, the rain had set in and it started getting dark standing in the grand stand with the Cheltenham blues.

Couldn't even make out Pigeon Island two out and was accepting defeat then he got a mention from the commentator, decided to ditch the Binoculars and could just make out the small grey making ground coming to the last.

I was quite happy standing in the pouring rain cheering Pigeon and Paddy into the winners enclosure after that. :)

Paid 69/1, but only 18/1 if I'd done it at sp. Taking a price on Baracouda cost me £8k as he went off bigger on the day. Gave me a nice deposit to put down on my first house, which I only moved out of in December. Not come near since, but have an even bigger payout lined up for 10th anniversary so hoping I'm due another one by now.

Sublimity 66/1 for the champion Hurdle,had a unlucky run in the Supreme the year before and not far behind Straw bear who was about 8/1 so thought was a massive price backed him Feb 1st.

Quick question Roger...if I go for a treble where all of them are under NRNB and one doesnt run does it just become a double I take it?

Backed Missed That at 14-1 which boomed in at 7-2 despite some idiot on here - Gravedigger or sumfin - saying it had no chance

I backed Pigeon too in the ladbrokes in Cheltenham.
Watched it in the Centaur.
Came from the clouds booted home by an inspired Paddy Brennan.still gives me goosebumps!!

Long Run, far too big stakes on at 6/1 when he won the Gold Cup

Looks Like Trouble at 50s with LuvBet for the 2000 Gold Cup.  Won at 9/2.......

I hardly ever back ante post and can only remember two I've done off top of my head but one was a winner in War of Attrition for the Golc Cup!

On that Thursday I'd 25/1 Alberta's Run, 16/1 Coper Bleu and 25/1 Great Endeavour. All in singles. Even a few small each way doubles would have been great

Inglis Drever in 2007 was my other one but the price wasn't as good as Alberta's Run. Think both won me a similar amount

Biggest regret was 2010 Gold Cup. After Kauto won the GC in 2009 I thought a new kid on the block would win in 2010. Had it narrowed down to Imperial Commander and Aran Concerto (who'd won the Power Gold Cup). No prizes for guessing which one I'd my AP bet on

Probably Sky's The Limit winning the 2006 Coral Cup off top weight.

This was an 'against the trends' pick, based solely on watching him do a fantastic piece of work in the televised Leopardstown gallops, shortly before the Festival.

Pigeon Island 50-1, Rooster Booster 40-1, Albertas Run 33-1, Great Endeavour 28-1 but the best winner for cash was Rock On Ruby 16-1 and 12-1 last year. Shaping up to be my biggest winner again this year although First Lieutenant in the Ryanair would also be nice.

Yes, if you have NRNB on all horses in a treble and one is ruled out you just have an ante-post double. I didn't have NRNB on that treble as I placed it back in December. Still remember putting it on in cash at the Coral betting shop at Sandown Park on Tingle Creek Day!

KICKING KING, I backed this horse after watching it finish 2nd to well chief in the previous years Arkle at 33/1 for the following season,s gold cup,2 wins out of 3 including the King George left me in a very good position that season, only for the news in January that the horse was out for the season, I was gutted, then my friend phoned me when I was at a golf outing the week before the gold cup and told me KK was back in contention, I thought it was a wynd up untill I seen the RP the next day, so what a pleasure it was for me sitting in the stands at Cheltenham cheering it home, as Mick Fitzgerald once said Better than sex.

Denman. Not the biggest priced winner I ever backed, but the most I ever collected from AP betting. Backed him from 8's all the way down to 2's for the RSA. And was simultaneously backing him at at 33's for the Gold Cup the following year. So one seasons AP betting yielded two brilliant wins.

Actually collected more from the RSA but both were very nice pay days, and he will forever hold a place in my heart

mr mulligan 1997 gold cup...was living in america at the time,got word for it about 3 weeks before...had it at 25s when money was plentiful !!!listened to the commentary via my mothers tv on the telephone...was roaring and shouting from 2out...happy happy days,,,

had 2 antepost bets in 2009. cooldine at 14s in the rsa and quevega at 8s in the mares race.both won by about 15 lengths and both returned 9-4.

started backing him in the October, before he won the Champion, right after he beat Mr Cool 7 lengths, hard held on the bridle in what was a blistering time (had a solid 135 horse about 65 lengths behind). I made him easily a 171 horse based on that.

was already aware that he had the potential but that performance sealed the deal, got on at all rates from 25/1 down, put him in ew multiples galore, put all my friends and family and people I just knew all over the place

even described almost exactly how the race would go (Intersky Falcon to lead at a very fast pace, race to fall apart, Booster hacks up)

Was still getting on as much as possible on the day at 13/2

Backed him before he ran in Ireland and did handstands in Leopardstown the day he beat Go Native 10 lengths without raising a gallop.

He never got to Cheltenham.

Closest near miss was The Fellow at 50/1 although did back Garrison Savannah on the day.

Also backed Topsham Bay for the National Hunt Chase but that was on course.
