Just wondered if anyone had identified any horses that they were keen on for one of the Festival handicaps earlier in the season but which have run well subsequently, been reassessed by the handicapper and possibly blown a favourable handicap mark?
Vino Griego is one that I'd pencilled in for the 2m 5f novice handicap chase on Day 1 of the Festival but he's been raised 10 lbs for his win last Saturday.
Well Vino Griego's revised mark didn't stop him winning at Ascot earlier today but he'll go up again after that win and that will surely put him out of contention for one of the Cheltenham handicaps?

I'd imagine he'll go above 140 after that, Cash. Can't imagine they'd go for the 3m handicap as the stable have Fruity O'Rooney, so would they run him in the Plate, do you think?

Gravy - the 2m 5f novice handicap on the first day of the Festival is restricted to novices rated 0-140 so Vino Griego won't be eligible for that off his revised mark. That leaves the 3m Festival Handicap chase & 2m 5f Byrne Group Plate as possible alternatives and, as you say, Fruity ORooney will be going for the former which suggests Vino Griego is more likely to be aimed at the latter.

Ifandbutwhynot was my County Hurdle fancy but no bookmakers were quoting him before he won at Mussleburgh which I found surprising seeing what Tanako Emery has done since November
130 wouldn't have gotten him into the race last year so needed to win but no idea what the handicapper will do after that

If you look back at the winners of most of the handicaps in past festivals you will see, unless its to get in, or in a novice race, very little winning form in the season

Kim Bailey seemed keen on a tilt at the Fred Winter with Milord but that ran a cracker of a race to finish 3rd to Chatterbox at Newbury and I'm sure the handicapper will punish him as a result.
