Could he be trhe new Denman? Or will he be found out when raised in class?

The Giant Bolster won the same race last year off a mark 2lbs lower.

Watched the race when I got back from Cheltenham last night and you won't see many jump better than he did and win a competitive big field handicap much easier. Must go up to around 160 now, improving fast and 3 miles 2 furlongs should be better for him than yesterday's trip so can't rule him out. Just wondering where that horse of Bridgwater's, who beat him, is going to run next.

Agree booster. Longer trip will hardly be an inconvenience. Horse was riddenly very aggressively yesterday...took it up a mile out?

There''ll be obvious comparisons between him and The Giant Bolster but I really think yesterday's race was a better one than last year's and he could be very good. Physically he looks like a top class horse and wouldn't't look out of place in a Gold Cup field.

He was 4 sec slower than Vino Griego , carried 1 lb more and jumped one fence less .

Was a big race for me yesterday, with both Katenko and Bold Sir Brian running. Like to look for loud ones in GC market, rather than finding the winner, and had BSB at 1000's, and thought he was my best pick, but after that yesterday, clearly that bets gone. Trying to keep calm, but got £120 on Katenko @ 250's to 350's, and I'm really hoping they go GC route, don't know if my bet is affecting my judgement, but I think he's got a squeak.

He looked to be going better than our mick when he fell but I still reckon that our mick had plenty left, if that one finished the race and was somewhere in that gap between katenko and the rest, certainly a lot closer then he wouldn't be looking quite as attractive for the gold cup, i think he would be totally outclassed in a GC myself.

agree duffy this looks a good gold cup this year, he has no chance in that race but if i had a few bob at 350s id be trading and making a few £ profit

Good Luck with your big prices on Katenko, I reckon he'll go very well in a race where there are stamina doubts about a few ahead of him in the market. For what it's worth on Saturday, I reckon he'd have been even more impressive if Our Mick had stayed up as he seemed to be dossing on his own. Very good jumper and a real stayer who's improving fast. I'd rather have him than the Argento horses.

Cheers booster, I hope you're right, I was well impressed anyway, though I think ground may play a big part in his chances. Gives me something to look forward to in the meantime. I've bet a good few at big prices, with 2 or 3 others still entered, and it's good to have one just giving you a bit of hope.

duffy/robbo, you're probably right, and as robbo says, certainly gives me a nice trading opportunity........hopefully.

You've got a nice looking bet there Fabulous... well done... Grin

Wyck Hill has to be of interest now too... just watched the race where Wyck Hill beat Katenko... Katenko seemed to be travelling the best but was seemingly outstayed...

According to Bridgewater, Wyck Hill goes to Kempton next although also has an entry in the National Trial at Haydock...  Bridgewater favours a crack at the National but a win at Kempton and there may be a crack at the Gold Cup in the offing: a chance the trainer will find hard to resist imo and hopefully another Bolsteresque moment.

I've thrown a few sheckles (not in the league of Fabulous Wink) at 160 for the Gold Cup... good luck. Happy

Agree with above post about Wyck Hill being of interest, but jury still out on how strong Katenko form is for me,as I backed Katenko on saturday but I had actually backed Johns Spirit in the race before Katenkos too(and done the doubleSad) which had finished 2nd to Katenko on its previous outing on similar ground but threw in a shocking race Saturday. Not sure if Johns Spirit had an off day but Katenko certainly jumped superbly out of that ground.
