Let me know if you want me to have a crack at it for you my pal is a top lad and may even give you the nod on the day.

I know this is advice to late, but when I had membership you could have your tickets kept behind the reception at the back entrance. Then you can pick them up from there on the day. Might be worth asking in future if they can store them for you. Saves the risk of them being stolen in post.

I feel for you, surely there has to be a way of tickets being covered in this day and age. Should be a way of making the tickets you've bought invalid so when It comes to them tickets being scanned they come up as invalid. That way they can send you some new ones out, with the course having peace of mind someone isn't going to get on the course for free.

Shame TL. Cheltenham don't help by advertising all over their franking where the communication has originated. Annual badges are sent out registered post with good reason.
Report THE LEGEND January 15, 2013 9:51 PM GMT
If I dont get any joy with the Post Office which in honesty I dont expect,
I paid using Barclaycard can try with them I know goods are covered during postage not
Sure if that extends to tickets.Failing all that will write to Chelt appeal to their better nature/goodwill
see if they will do anything considering I've been going Chelt for 15+ years. .....heres hoping..

Hard to believe they can't cancel them now everyone barcodes in.

Agree the card payment option may cover you / Howdi's mate / pushing it with Cheltenham. Don't give up.

Hope you get it sorted.

Agree re barcodes and the tickets also have the purchasers name on. Surely they cancel the original tickets and re-send!!

Wont give up...that cash will be handy for a few placepots/beers
Report bluebirdfan January 16, 2013 3:31 PM GMT
Tickets are expensive enough without forking out for registered post, can see why you did it mate but some bloody postie's done you over
Report Arklearkle January 16, 2013 5:45 PM GMT
They must be able to block them at the entrance when the tickets are swiped (bad choice of word). Not much point in having fancy barcodes and all that unless they can do that. Would be surprised if Chelters cannot sort you out as they are quite good tbf. I feel for you as the tickets are expensive. Good luck anyway.

I can't help with the issue at hand, but I do have a nice story from last year's Festival. I'd bought my tickets and opted for 'print at home', but as we're sat on the bus to the course I remembered that I'd left them in the bastard Travelodge in Gloucester Crazy There would be no time to train back and pick them up, and a cab would be the same price as just simply re-purchasing them.

Anyway, I thought I'd ask in the main entrance/reception area if I could simply use one of their computers to go to my emails and print the tickets off again. (Cheeky, I know, but worth an ask with a bit of charm). Sadly I picked out some absolute jobsworth woman who was not letting me anywhere near her computer.

I give up, cursing myself, and head to the desk to buy replacement tickets. Then an older fella, about 55 or so, asks me, "are you about to buy tickets? Don't, here have these, my guests haven't turned up." He gave me two Club badges and tickets and wouldn't accept a penny for them. He said he worked for Stan James so I assume they were corporate issued or whatever, but he absolutely made our day with his kindness. We'd only bought Tatts tickets too! I did try to get his email address from SJ but was unsuccessful so hopefully on the off chance that he's a member here, he'll see this Happy

To save money on registered delivery you can buy the tickets in person in the office near the fireplace next to the hall of fame. at the Oct or Nov meetings. They are still sent out but at their risk.
Report GoBallistic January 16, 2013 10:51 PM GMT
I always collect ours from the course on the monday (mainly because I know there's a fair chance I'd leave them at home otherwise)

Update.....Hats off to Cheltenham after sending them an email explaining situation i received a reply same day.As a loyal long standing customer they have ,against their policy, agreed to cancel the lost tickets & re-issue.
So glad they treated me with decency as most companies these days just grab your money.
