What's all this support about? Seemingly light years behind Pont Alexandre and Champagne Fever. If those two are okay why would they be even thinking of running this?
I have absolutely no idea about whether someone has suggested he is highly regarded or not. Fact is he is being supported against two horses in the same ownership who have form light years ahead of his own. I see that as a strange move, you obviously don't, fair enough.

There's no evidence to suggest he's beign backed against them. Infact he isn't, as they will not all go for the same race. Ponte will probably be an Albertt Bartlett type, and maybe Champagne Fever won't go ?

That's exactly what I am saying - you would only support this horse if you had a suggestion that one of the others wasn't turning up. It was only a couple of days ago that Mullins gave an upbeat report on Champagne Fever.

Didn't the assembled hacks think about asking the questions I have posed above? Ballycasey may be progressing 'lovely' but it is of far more significance what is happening with Champagne Fever. If he isn't going to make Cheltenham it is a front page story. Based on what he has achieved 8/1 is a ridiculous price for Ballycasey. He won comfortably today but it wasn't a great field and the second pulled too hard and fluffed the last.

3/3
Wants better ground as per WPM today and dint settle at all thru the race i thought, was always a bit keen, jumped brilliantly too i thought
Beat Our Vinnie on debut in a bumper givin him 6lbs where OV already had 2 decent runs under his belt, OV 3rd fav for this
Drifted like a barge on hurdles debut as they felt the ground was way too soft for him but duly hacked up
And today easily disposed of Bonisland givin him weight(had every chance turnin in and was impressively disposed of i thought) and his form ties in with recent Grade 2 hurdle winners Rule the World and Busty Brown
Seems its defo being aimed at this, think there is every reason he should b near the top of the market personally but tis a game of opinions

The second easily disposed of Bonisland as well - that horse is not progressive and with Love Rory a non-stayer today's race didn't take much winning.
Anyway for me that is a side issue the question revolves around the significant recent money for Ballycasey and whether you honestly believe the owners would run two in either the Neptune or Albert Bartlett. All this coming so soon after the report on Champagne Fever - yes we know he has to prove his well being but WE have heard nothing to suggest that isn't going to happen.

Champagne Fever has shaped like he wants a stiffer test of stamina for some time but doubt he wants to go three miles at Cheltenham; I'd have thought Ballycasey is far the likelier of the pair to turn up for the Albert Bartlett (even if Champagne puts his disappointment behind him beforehand, which is not a given).

What annoys me with WPM is when one of his gets beat there is always an excuse. With CF sure he was beaten too far for it to be his real running but then he got beat before that aswell. It reminds me of Zaidpour when he looked the 2ndcoming in the first half of his novice season and then tailed off. Same as Midnight Game last season.
We'll see as CF does look a tool on his Bumper performances.

My Neptune is hideous at the moment as only two horses I've backed are The Don and CF.
See what you mean Sint regarding excuses but his bumper form gets stronger with every passing weekend. Proven he handles cheltenham and the same course as Neptune so it would certainly be on my agenda to take him, even if not winning. He'd have to be in top two though and clear of rest

Had a look through the previous winners of this race (in particular Cooldine and Bishopsfurze for WPM) and the path they took after winning this race here in Thurles.
Next a Listed, then the Michael Purcell Memorial Novice H´dle Grade 2 back here then off to Fairyhouse/Punchestown ! (and back to Thurles in November to win their Beginners S´chase).
"Horses for courses" they say ! (Would be nice to dream he can be better than these two)

Djakadam and Tarla's tumbles earlier on, may have contributed to the layers offering 9/10 about Ballycasey, but there were plenty willing to go in again and that grey was backed into 4/6. The very promising youngster never gave his supporters any cause for concern and he eventually eclipsed Milborough to the tune of three lengths.
Mullins remarked: "He's progressing lovely. I'm happy he handled the ground as I thought it might be too soft. "I don't know if he'll run again between now and Cheltenham. He'll be entered in the Albert Bartlett and the Neptune and he's the type of horse that would prefer better ground."
Ballycasey is 8/1 (from 10/1) for the Albert Bartlett with Stanley James. They reportedly laid three decent bets about him on Tuesday and they now claim that he is a big loser in the race for their firm.
IF you believe Stanley then you need your head examined !
BACK Champagne Fever NOW for the Deloitte AND also the Albert Bartlett (imvho of course).

Anyone else think the Deloitte would be a strange target for Champagne Fever? We already know he is a Grade 1 horse. Given what happened last time if he is okay surely it would make much better sense to look for a confidence booster and then on to the Neptune.
