He seemed to enjoy his gallop the other day at Chepstow. Can't see him winning GC but often runs well fresh so could win his trial and odds would certainly tumble if that happened.

Off the course for nearly two years. Pulled up in 2011 Gold Cup. 12yo. It looked to me like Ransom Note had his measure in the gallop the other day (though you can't really draw any conclusion from that other than he till has a leg in each corner).
Personally think he had such a hard race when he won Gold Cup in 2010 that he was never the same afterwards (the same may yet apply to the 2011 winner also). I know he won a Betfair Chase after his Gold Cup success but that looks a very weak renewal of that race in retrospect. Not usually one for outlandish statements but I would be flabbergasted if he wins the Argento assuming that the opposition is up to the usual standard for that race. I'm not entirely convinced yet that he will even make the start line for that race. Of course, I have been wrong before. |

Bobs Worth runs in the Argento I think, so he'd have to run a big race after a long lay off, but If anyone can get one ready to run a big one off a long lay off its Twister.
I remember Imperial Commander running in the Paddy Power Gold Cup after a very long lay off, Was one of my fav threads listening to bobby dazzler talking about his rehab, made me lots of money that day. If he gives Bobs Worth half a race, you'll have a nice trade option but I think he will struggle to place in this years gold cup, the bounce factor effects these older horses much more. |

Did you say 66/1 value or did you miss 3 or 4 000 from those odds. You need tht him even running !!! fantastic performance the year he won it but what has he done since? think he won a 3 or 4 runner betfair chase....

It would be interesting to hear bobby dazzler's thoughts but he rarely appears on here now.

Lots of unproven horses this year and I believe he could run a big race, the way he traveled and won 2010 gold cup running Denman into the ground was impressive and if he can recapture some form close to that he's got a chance, I think the race is wide open but its a BIG if @ 66/1 and I get a free bet if he doesn't turn up, its worth a bet.

be some training performance if this wins the GC.

66/1 is skinny imo

If it is none runner no bet I think it is a good price. He doesn't owe connections anything and if he does run in the Argento then I think he will either run well, come on and could run a big race in the gold cup or they will call it a day with him. A decent bet to nothing for me.

66/1 nrnb is a great bet for the sole reason if he runs he won't be any where near that price if he doesn't you get your money back.

Whose gonna back him??

echoing brookieslads comments ,he needs a good break between races so even if he ran very well in argento not sure he will repeat it in the gold cup and at his age he will surely find at least a few of the young up and comers too good at the festival if he makes it ,but could be a decent trade out after the argento .but not a bet for me

Whilst IC will always be one of my fav horses because of his victories in the PP, Ryanair and a majestic Gold Cup romp, not to mention that amazing duel with Kauto in the 2009 betfair chase, I remain dumbfounded as to why his owners chose to run IC at Aintree after his Gold Cup victory
. He recovered from that to beat TB and win a betfair chase, but I feel the damage was done at Aintree and would seriously question his willingness to go through the pain barrier again at his age and after his problems. |

Will not win place or probably even run in the race, Is 66-1 for a reason. Look at the stats for a horse of his age in GC add in he's been out for 18 months injured. I still maintain at least one 0 is missing from his price.
