This runs today in the Tolworth which should tell us more
Can't believe the price tbh at 9/2 and think it will win again
Deffo be better over 2m4f but the hill will help as it did at Chelts
Horse has improved bundles since Chelt
Very exciting horse imho

A very good friend of mine is one of the owners and I am sure the Neptune is the target ( it was before it one at Chelt ) as they believe it will deffo mprove over another half mile
This is a real shock tbh as it ain't that well brea but now oozes quality and will be an awesome chaser
Really pleased for a small yard and what a price today 9/2 was an insult when you see how well he won first time out over the fav.
If I hear any more about its target I will post if they don't mind as I believe this fella is top drawer

Nice one for all connections, it was clear to see the delight by all. They all looked well prepared for the day with each wearing the racing colours in one form or other. Agree he'll make some chaser.
Well done All

Jeremy Scott, trainer of Melodic Rendezvous: "He´s got loads of pace and I expect he´ll end up in the Supreme Novices´, but I expect he´ll be entered in the two-and-a-half miler as well [Neptune] and we´ll see what the ground is doing nearer the time. It would be nice to get on some decent ground before Cheltenham to help us make our minds up."

Live on C4 JS stated that he always looked upon the horse as a stayer but he'd keep his options open by entering him in both races. From the interview i watched and impression i got i wouldn't be backing him for supreme at this moment. Where was above quote taken from?

Yes but alot of recent Champion hurdle winners have taken in the neptune on route i.e Istabraq, Hardy Eustace. Other winners Peddlers cross 2nd champion hurdle and if Simsonsig stayed hurdling he'd be favourite for this years. So as much as I accept what your saying trainers will take in the race they believe they will win. I say you need a 2m4f horse to win a Champion hurdle and thats why the neptune is used for novices.

Unless it's dry for the next 3 months and we get good ground I would be very surprised if they step him up 5f for the Neptune.
Looks tailor made for the Supreme to my eyes - whether he's quite good enough to win is another matter, but at 14/1 he looks a very fair e/w bet.

Backed him for Neptune on here at 24 and 20 this morning, think those odds will be a lot shorter should they choose this race. Really like the horse, and the horse that finished 2nd Pendra i like as well. Just been watching his races and impressed.Big price for the supreme and also fair price for the Neptune, had a bit of both.

Jeremy Scott has confirmed his stable star Melodic Rendezvous will bypass Saturday's Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown in favour of a trip to Exeter the following day.
A fantastic second in a Grade One bumper at last season's Punchestown Festival, the seven-year-old has made a fine start to his career over obstacles, building on his debut second with two impressive victories.
After a determined triumph at Cheltenham in mid-December, the seven-year-old claimed a clear-cut success in a heavy ground Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown and he is now set to complete his preparations for next month's Cheltenham Festival.
Melodic Rendezvous had the option of travelling to Ireland or running at Doncaster, but his target is Sunday's Listed Bathwick Tyres Plymouth Novices' Hurdle, where he is set to clash with the equally exciting Puffin Billy.
Scott said: "The plan is to go to Exeter with him.
"We could have taken the easier option and gone to Doncaster tomorrow, but the owners are keen to go to Exeter and that's the way we're going.
"We also had the option of going to Ireland, but Exeter is just down the road and while I'm sure he'll have a hard race on Sunday, I think he'd have an even harder race in Ireland, especially when you consider the travelling and everything.
"It's going to be a tough old race at Exeter and it will be interesting to see what happens."
Melodic Rendezvous is entered for both the William Hill Supreme Novices' Hurdle and the longer Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at the Festival and Scott believes this weekend's test will tell connections a lot about which race he should head for.
"The ground is going to play a big part in the decision of course, but also Sunday's race will tell us a lot about which way we should be going with him," said the trainer.
interesting race sunday with this fellow and puffin billy looking forward to this battle and will learn a lot as melodic a good yard stick and puffin billy the flashier of the 2 horses...good race in prospect

Pretty sure Noland won this Exeter race before he won the Supreme.
Not sure how running over 2m1f will tell them (or Puffin Billys connections) if the horse needs to step up to 2m5f for the Neptune?

personally don't think melodic is a supreme horse think the longer race would be a better option for him just see him as a stayer could be wrong
cannot make puffin billy out yet although looks very classy but the opposition haven't been what he must face here in regards melodic
one bubble will be burst and questions will be answered in regards cheltenham from both camps
interesting melodic doesn't have a grade 1 penalty either
reading what scott says the neptune is obviously very much an option would you say???

How can you say Melodic Rendezvous isn't a supreme horse given the turn of foot he showed at Cheltenham in December and in the Tolworth over 2miles?
You also need to stay further than 2miles to win the supreme too, look at Al Ferof and Menorah as recent examples who optimum trip is 2m4f+...

Agree entirely with Colldogg, surely the form displayed to date over two miles is sufficient evidence that it goes for the Supreme with a shout?
Should be a fascinating clash on Sunday!

Gut feeling is that PB will win quiet well and MR will end up in the Neptune. Like them both, just think PB is the better more speedier horse for 2m,but having said that its hard to say that with too much confidence based on what weve seen so far, just my thoughts.

They ran it at Chelt as the horse was ready to go but they were ALL convinced he would be better over longer , since then his 3 wins he has shown speed to burn also
I am certain ( Not spoken to my mate for a week or so ) it will be ground dependent with the Neptune on better ground and the Supreme on soft
Whatever the race the boys that own it are in dream land and well done for turning down the big money offer last year considering they paid buttons for it as it aint well bred.
A lovely horse in very good hands and one for the small guy...brilliant

Love this horse, would love him to run in the supreme and he has a great chance in both races though. What a lovely little horse he is and always runs his heart out for you

Strength in the Supreme and weakness in Neptune markets doesn't reflect the view of your "friend". Have you checked he is actually anything to do with the horse?

The Tolworth Hurdle winner has been held up in the majority of his races, but Scott believes that has been more a case of circumstances than design.
With no quarter asked or given in the Festival opener on March 12, Scott feels it might be prudent to stick closer to the pace.
"I wouldn't be worried about soft ground now, but at this time last year I would have been," the Somerset handler told At The Races.
"Realistically they will not let it get any quicker than good, good to soft and he could cope with that fine.
"I think we'll ride him handier in the Supreme than he has been ridden previously.
"We had him ready to run in a point-to-point before we sold him last year so we know he can jump fences OK.
"I'm guessing that's probably the route we'll take next year."

I thought Scott came out last week and said that Melodic Rendezvous was going for the supreme? So that will explain the drift for the neptune if it is indeed the case.

More and more people getting stuck into better known stables as we get closer? FWIW, MR matches MTOY on my stats and as I've missed the price on MTOY, will be my bet.......... As long as I don't have too many in the Guinness village beforehand

It's won THREE trials which have each provided the winner of the Supreme, is not flat bred, never been out of the first two in his life including Grade 1 bumper which is another stat that previous winners have had, had more than two hurdle starts, won both of his last two starts, Grade 1 winner. The only slight negative is his age but I have not worked out the statistical significance in terms of numbers of runners in each age group. He's far more likely than Dodging Bullets for instance who misses nearly all the key trends for the race

that is fair enough judo from a trend point of view but how have you equated the horses form?? I wasn't talking about dodging bullets this was a question about melodic rendezvous

it better go in the supreme - will be the 'best' going of the whole festival, first race on tuesday - predict neither MTOY or Jezki will jump well enough and Melodic takes up just before last and steams on up the hill to win by 3l

That's my dream too gordon, though holding off backing until the ground is known as def needs cut in my opinion. Would be shorter if trained by one of the big three
