My wife has got us two tickets for the Club Enclosure for the Tuesday as an Xmas present. Don't fancy the train after the racing so may drive and stay over. Where's best within easy reach by train and has a fairly late train returning  from Cheltenham?
Thanks.

Go Chelters to on Monday and go home Wednesday. Soak up the atmosphere. The racing is undoubtably an important part but only a part.

I stayed in Gloucester last year, which was a £5/15 minute train journey or a £30 cab. Got a Premier Inn room for £100 per night to sleep two which, given the typical prices of accomodation for the Festival, wasn't too bad. Trains ran until about midnight, maybe 11.30. However, with a cab not exactly breaking the bank, you've got the option to stay on if you fancy.

Only downside was we were stuck in the middle of nowhere really and by all accounts Gloucester is a hole, but it was an excellent value base.
