Which race would you aim for at Cheltenham if you trained this horse? I think he might be good enough for the RSA but they will probably opt for the NH chase-at least they won't have to let Buchanan ride him in that. He looked out of his depth against Ruby and Barry today but the horse took him there in the end.

Be very very surprised if that wins anything round chelt.
I like the horse but all of his better wins have been in small fields against largely mediocre horses. I think he has potential and how it does in it's next race will dictate what level it should be pitched at. I'd like to see Lucinda Russell put him in a decent handicap with a large-ish field - something like the VC Chase at the Cheltenham New Year's Day meet would be ideal.
Apologies Ibrahim. I thought it was a novice chase. Something like the Scottish National might be the target then.

ok the opposition were not good but he travelled and was never clean over the fences but cruised into the lead. But the 2nd is one the most overrated horses in training, just behind Sanctuaire.
I really hope they enter it into something decent soon.

The horse was unsighted at several fences, particularly the railways, because Buchanan insisted on following close behind other horses. Once he pulled him into some daylight he romped home. Ridden either closer to the pace or taken a bit wider he would look even better. Rival D'estruval boosted his form again today.

Argento Chase aim for improving Bold Sir Brian

IMPROVING youngster Bold Sir Brian could have his next start in Cheltenham's Argento Chase on January 26, according to trainer Lucinda Russell.
The promising six-year-old, officially rated 155, made the successful step up to Listed level on his most recent start at Sandown earlier this month when he romped away with the Future Stars Chase.
The stylish performance advertised his undoubted potential and Russell said she is thinking about giving her stable star an entry in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup next March.
Quoted in tomorrow's Weekender stable tour, Russell said: "He settled well [at Sandown] and when Peter [Buchanan] asked him to go and win his race he did it in a matter of strides.
"We were all thrilled with that performance and he seems to have come out of it in great order. I am considering the Argento Chase at Cheltenham for him in the New Year.
"He is clearly improving at a fair old rate and we won't know where we are unless we have a look at this type of race. I will also look to giving him an entry in the Gold Cup, as you never know do you?"

Seems a good idea, would give them a better idea of how good the horse actually is
Nice to see a trainer who is willing to shoot for the stars.
