You'd think they'd want to encourage some antepost each way betting, but those terms are awful, especially when you know you'll be getting 1/4 on the day.

just spoke to Kate Miller on Twitter these were her replies
Kate Miller @racingkate @BoxingFan10 1/5 on some races. Not all. Standard ante-post terms are 1/5th. Although I realise 1/4 odds EW is a longstanding concession.
Kate Miller @racingkate @BoxingFan10 it isn't mathmatically viable to offer it on all races. Which I appreciate is disappointing for many. And I'm sorry
@BoxingFan10 No, many firms are chosing it as a loss-leader. We chose to run other concessions instead. It is advertised - and displayed.
Why wouldnt you want to back E/W at this stage Roo?

Just personal I guess, but so much time for something to happen. Good chance might not make it so sooner keep the place stake for either another bet or going in later.
As an aside those races with most runners quoted do seem 1/4 odds but I understand the frustration

I wouldn't consider doing each way without nrnb. When backing a 20/1 shot, you'd be getting 5/1 the place which probably isn't as good value as the win price when you've factored in the chance of the horse not running. That's why I'm surprised that bookies aren't doing all they can to take antepost each way bets.

exactly, they should be begging for each way money antepost
'not mathmatically viable'
with the amount of injuries, burst bubbles on hype horses, changing running plans what are they scared of? literally everything is in the bookies favour already

Exactly what I said mate, I said you are talking nonsense and she replied with I'm not gonna carry on cos you're being "unpleasent" I questioned this and she said because I said I told her it was nonsense. Brilliant just said "keep those punters pumping the roulette machines"

ACStafford, you aren't getting 4/1 on the place of a 20/1 shot.
£1 e/w at 20s. Horse comes 3rd for 4/1 at a 1/5th the odds, you've got £1 @ 4/1 return of £5 for a £2 outlay. 5/2 the place.

No. At 1/5th you get 4/1 for the place. The example you speak of makes 6/4 anyway, which is only relevant if you assume the win bet is an inevitable loser (such as betting each way on the stayers hurdle).
