Report Mr Eboue November 15, 2012 8:38 PM GMT
Just had a bet on him tomorrow.

The write up he gets in Mark Howards book is very promising.
Report R Carver November 15, 2012 8:52 PM GMT
I think the yard have at least one better prospect but he would win on looks and is quite classy with solid form. Think Tizzard may think he has a better one judged on Ascot.
Report R Carver November 15, 2012 8:53 PM GMT
Would be unusual for these connections to run one that was not primed or simply as a sighter.
Report cufcno1 November 16, 2012 12:08 AM GMT
if youre talking about royal guardsman its now trained by someone else, probably due to the fact it was given a stinker at cheltenham in the bumper !
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 16, 2012 8:32 PM GMT
His NH flat form didnt excite me but i think that was a very good run today, nicky never has them anywhere near fit first time so i expect some major improvement.

Looks like another Sprinter Sacre/Riverside Theatre debut to me.

Still looking forward to who he runs on the friday at newbury at the Hennessey meeting, hopefully it will be Mono Man Love
Report strontium November 16, 2012 10:36 PM GMT
Yep, I think he did well today and will imrove a lot for it. What a horribly messy race though.
Report buddeliea November 17, 2012 6:50 AM GMT
pulling, ran green, will come on a bundle for that.
gut feeling is hes different class to the winner.
Report strontium November 17, 2012 4:17 PM GMT
^totally agree
Report CheltenhamRoar November 17, 2012 6:30 PM GMT
Different class to the winner??
Really?i find that comment quite incredible tbh.
Report buddeliea November 19, 2012 12:26 PM GMT
What i mean by that is that in time he will be running in better races than the winner imo.
He was very green and pulled hard and if he did not have a touch of class would have been beat a lot further.
It maybe next season when he fulfils his potential,as like many of the trainers nov hurdlers he looks a tad weak at this stage of his career.
Think Dodging Bullets is pretty much at his level as a novice, and not so confident about him reaching the high levels of the game.
Report Brooksielad November 19, 2012 3:27 PM GMT
couldn't agree more buddeliea. I think by the end of the season he'll be a better horse than the winner. Looks a promising novice.
Report R Carver November 19, 2012 4:16 PM GMT
I have smimilar doubts about Dodging, I really do, though i also accept he should improve in a better race. The race was a farce so hard to get carried away, and I do not think the way it was run ideally suited DB, but RM looks a nice long term prospect. Not the biggest ever, but already wanting a fence.
Report CheltenhamRoar November 19, 2012 7:29 PM GMT
Well when you put it like that budd i agree,Dodging Bullets is very good and had to make his own running which certainly didnt suit him,
Having said that,i think he might just be a tad short of been top class,RM will be a chaser in time i very much doubt chasing will be DB game.
Report roobuck November 19, 2012 8:06 PM GMT
I actually think the 3rd in that race was potentially the most interesting for this year's festival.

Court Minstrel would certainly have been better suited by a faster gallop, though I accept most would have done. Showed a neat turn of foot going round the final bend to try and get a run and then baulked at final obstacle. The fact he really ran on after that was a good sign
Report buddeliea November 19, 2012 8:15 PM GMT
yes,i would agree with that, hes definitely one for this season.
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 23, 2012 6:44 PM GMT
Returns in the first at kempton on bosing day, hopefully he can recoup the al ferof loses from the king george.
Report stevo1 December 24, 2012 12:39 AM GMT
Backed it in double with Tottenham at Villa,so thats kiss of death for one of them, and 2 singles to pay for some xmas expenses.
Report stevo1 December 26, 2012 1:20 PM GMT
Thats ficked up Tottenham!
Report festivalfanatic December 27, 2012 9:14 AM GMT
Good performance though a rematch with the second is likely to produce a much closer outcome. It did really well, considering it jumped the first 2 flights as if it had clogs on and probably lost 6 lengths in the process.
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 15, 2013 8:23 PM GMT
Shame its running in such a small field tomorrow, still reckon it will win easily.
Report moscowmills February 17, 2013 11:21 AM GMT
So do I rip up my ante post voucher or do we still think genuine contender for the Supreme?
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 17, 2013 11:24 AM GMT
Messy race but i was not impressed with his hurdling, maybe the slow pace didnt help.

Lets just hope he turns up at cheltenham.
Report Graeme83 February 17, 2013 11:44 AM GMT
I'd put a line through yesterday. I'm still convinced RM has a good chance. He will certainly be a chaser to keep the right sight of whatever happens.
Report Graeme83 February 17, 2013 11:44 AM GMT

What I'd like to know is when will "they" finally pronounce his name correctly ?
River Maag
Report sintonian February 17, 2013 1:21 PM GMT
slow pace almost certainly against him yesterday. Will be keen to read BJG's thoughts.
Report festivalfanatic February 17, 2013 6:08 PM GMT
Surely too slow for the Supreme? How on earth can he beat Dodging Bullets on worse terms?
Report Graeme83 February 17, 2013 6:13 PM GMT
If they go very fast he can outstay some of them. Then again, it could also play into the hands of other stayers such as Champagne Fever. When Al ferof won it, i don't think he was the best 2 miler in that race. I think Spirit Son was the best hurdler to take out of that renewal.
Report Swagger February 17, 2013 9:05 PM GMT
Was anyone else not put off a bit by his hurdling? I thought he looked a bit ungainly at several hurdles but maybe that was the ground factor. I don't think the form of the race is relevant as it basically looked like a piece of work for him and resulted in a sprint finish off a crawl
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 17, 2013 9:09 PM GMT
you are not alone, his legs did an 'attraction' over a few of the hurdles, not noticed it before but every now and then he did put in a jump that made you think he was schooled at seven barrows.

I hope it was down to pace.
Report HaylingBilly February 17, 2013 9:24 PM GMT
River Maigue OR =140. County Hurdle ?
Report sc1883 February 17, 2013 9:51 PM GMT
With MTOY and the emmergance of Chatterbox (original plan was too miss the Fes) im sure the county must be under consideration. Im sure Nicky would have left a lot to work on yesterday but still struggle to see it not finding a couple too good in the Supreme. Would surely go close if 140 is the given mark in the county.
Report gutfeeling February 17, 2013 10:43 PM GMT
If he goes close in the Supreme i'll be very surprised,Hurdles poorly and looks to be a long term prospect.
In short not for me.
Report sintonian February 18, 2013 11:42 AM GMT
I'sn't the Supreme his only entry?
Report RyanWe February 18, 2013 11:43 AM GMT
The handicap entries are to be made in the next few days.
Report Graeme83 February 18, 2013 11:51 AM GMT
He's 140 for getting beaten a couple of lengths by a 145 rated horse he was giving 9Ibs to ? I sometimes wonder if this handicaper likes a flutter.
Report roobuck February 18, 2013 12:08 PM GMT
Whilst I cannot be sure, be gobsmacked if connections send him down the handicap route.

And anyway if RM is to be competitive of 140 in County, Court Minstrel will absolutely hose up!
Report BJG February 18, 2013 12:10 PM GMT
Defo goes Supreme, Hendo today
Report Graeme83 February 18, 2013 12:15 PM GMT
Nice one. Buckley likes them to aim high, instead of getting them into handicap races. He's a proper owner.
Report buddeliea February 18, 2013 12:39 PM GMT
I have a sneaky feeling this one is going to be a top chaser next few years.
Not at all interested in him for Cheltenham this season, but will definitely be keeping an eye on him.
Report sintonian February 18, 2013 4:34 PM GMT
Hendo ''Very realistic chance''

I believe he has to. Will improve from that run behind Far West and BJG likely to ride.
