Anyone switching on the TV at 3pm on Boxing Day 2012 will have been spell-bound to watch one of the most memorable and emotional races in living memory as Kauto Star, the veteran steeplechaser came back to win one of the toughest races of the year. This is the full story of the greatest chaser in recent memory and the first horse to regain his Gold Cup crown. Integral to the tale is his rivalry with next-door neighbour Denman at Paul Nicholls all-conquering yard as the pair captured the hearts of the public as they battled for supremacy at Cheltenham. The ability of Clive Smith's superstar to bounce back after being written off by some is one of his enduring characteristics during an unrivalled career at the top of the sport. His record-breaking victory in the King George was saluted by his thousands of adoring fans at Kempton and millions of admirers in the racing world.

Forget your Mark Howard and John Morris books - the only racing book you will need this year Wink

Publication of this has been delayed about 4 or 5 times. I ordered mine around this time last year but it hasn't been published yet. Presumably the publisher/author wants to wait for Kauto's retirement to give the full story. Really looking forward to this but not holding my breath about when it will arrive!

For any flat fans i believe the author is also doing one on Frankel.

According to the Racing Post, this is now out.  Hopefully Amazon will send mine soon, but most places say published on 19/10/12.

They'll need to bring out a sequel soon after he hoses up in the King George!

Yeah will have to wait for his retirment first and then publish. It can get the sentimental purchases in that case.

I've a picture of him and Denman on my wall alongside the great Moscow. The rest are memories in my mind.

Finally dispatched by Amazon Happy, having had it on order since May.

I'm no reader (I've only got about 4 books, and they're all racing ones), but cannot wait for this.
