given that he won the bumper he will be of interest over a trip, but im thinking he,d have enough speed to stay at 2m.if so does anyone know if theyre going hurdling or straight chasing?
Any thoughts on this beast..

Think the plan was to go chasing straight away.

Mullins feels he's too old for a hurdling campaign

Just looking at Boston Bobs record last season; if CF went for the RSA could we see Boston Bob in the Jewson? The slightly shorter trip may well help him

Other way round. Boston Bob needs 3 miles whereas CF should have the pace for the Jewson.

Lol are we really trying to guess what Mullins will do already? I was certain Sir Des Champs was going to go for the RSA he even said so himself and it ended up in Jewson.

Fair point MM, but I thought that was because Gigginstown decide where their horses will run rather than their trainers?

Mullins has made a comparison with Florida Pearl who went straight over fences. He said FP was ready right away for fences and he has said the same thing re Champagne Fever. FP had no hurdling career.

If you look at Florida Pearls novice chase career you'll see they started late December at the Leopardstown meeting, before going back again in Feb, and then heading to Cheltenham for the RSA.

Obviously back then there was no option of the Jewson race, but i'd expect a similar campaign to what the great Florida Pearl had, with the option of the Jewson. ExcitedMischief

good horse this - to lead a long way out in bumper and imo was toying with them. One to watch

but I say that about the bumper winner every year!!!

Interestingly in Mark Howards book last year Declan Phelan (Irish PtP expert) tipped him up to win the bumper at Cheltenham but then also said expect to see him in the Champion Chase rather than the Gold Cup
