Pretty sure its the Arkle route for this lad as it looks a chasing type to me(as most of the giggies are),still you never know in thhis game............still Im on at nice prices for the Arkle.
Ran a nice race in the Supreme but don't think the 'grouped finish' nature of the first 5 home was anything to write home about in terms of any of them being aimed at the CH. Looks a nice type, raced prominently and displayed a very good attitude in running on for a place.
I too expect to see him in the Arkle and had a very small bet at 30's. Hope he can jump fences!

Yeah agree with above also had few quid at 29s and 27s for Arkle,if he can settle bit better could be very useful.

Eboue touched off lto by vintage MCcoy ride on Alderwood, Simenon 7 lenghts back in 3rd doesnt like like bad form given latters Ascot exploits. Fences hopefully will maybe make him settle as always bit free in races travels strongly. Anyway one to look forward to, cant wait for proper horse racing to start.
Chasing is the Gigginstown game. Mention of Alderwood there, any idea where he goes this season?
Havent read anything re Alderwood but novice chasing route would be interesting, very progressive over hurdles.
Bluebird had little nibble on Alderwood,as good few at top of market staying over hurdles? Oscar Whisky, Simonsig?
Oh dear the giggies must have another special novice chaser or they reckon the CH will be a poor renenewal or they may think Trifolium will better over fences with another year to strengthen up.........pity as I had this lad for small stakes@ nice prices for the Arkle,cie la vie.
Surely wouldnt be good enough for Champion Hurdle imo.
You would think so steve but doesnt look a great crop of 2m hurdlers with the exception of grandouet(missed last festival)the rest are very exposed and something from the novices may well improve beyond the current crop.

It sounds like it's about the horse's long term development (as a chaser) rather than trying to win big pots over hurdles. Nothing wrong with that.
Take Hurricane Fly out and the next 15 in the betting are English trained
That leaves realistically, Rebel Fitz, Trifolium, Hisabaat, Steps to Freedom, Simenon
If keeping away from HF it would nt surprise me to see Trifolium picking up a few nice pots as the irish hurdling division is even weaker than normal around 2m with the likes of TS and VLV steppin up and i see no reason why he could nt develop into a CH contender and i have availed of some of the 100+ prices on here, cant believe how underated he is being in the market. Surely worth a few bob at that price given his run in the Supreme and the prices the other contenders are for this even allowing for the doubt they may run him sparingly to prep for chasing next season!

With Weapon's Amnesty and Solwhit both out of action, one of the trainer's stars of last season was talented youngster Trifolium.
The five-year-old was third in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham and just touched off by Alderwood in a Grade One at Punchestown.
"He's been back in for a while and could be ready to run in about a month," said Byrnes.
"He's still only a young horse so we've decided to keep him over hurdles this season.
"Obviously he still has to improve a good bit, but he is young and should improve."

Few people had few sheckles on him at overpriced 100s plus now 44s, approx price he should be. May clean up few at home as lack of competition,as Fly most probably wont be out till xmas?
Gigginstown are all about chasers. OLeary said a few months ago he doesn't like hurdle races.
So One of two things have happened here.
1) They schooled him over fences and he failed miserably.
2) They think he's improved significantly over the summer and think he's top class and could win a champion hurdle.
I like this horse and backed him at Chelters. Had a fortune on him when Alderwood beat him. I'm not sure what to make of him.

I had a couple of quid on him for the Arkle as well, so would still like him to go down that route.
Put a couple of quid on Alderwood for the Arkle as well at 38. I think that's far too big a price for a festival winner, and a horse that ran to a very high level in the spring in Ireland.
Interesting that they're schooling Alderwood straight away and bypassing a non novice hurdle campaign.

I have the impression that Trifolium is a bit of a baby (still only 5) and they want him to have another season over hurdles to give him the chance to mature. i.e. it's about making the most of his ability as a chaser when he goes down that route, rather than any great expectations of him as a hurdler.
Theres definitely hurdle races to be won with him in Ireland, we know the Fly won't take much racing before Cheltenham

Definitely a bit early to be writing him off for anything for the reasons BJG said. He wasn't exactly going for it today imo, I'd be staggered if that was a true reflection of form
Whilst excuses can be made, I would have expected a champion hurdler elect to of won that race tbh.
At least to have got within 30 l of the winner! Davy Russell said much the same.

“He has undergone a wind operation since but won’t be out for too long as it was only a small operation.”

Has there been any mention of Alderwood in Ireland? I was thinking he would make up into Irelands main Arkle hope?

Tom Mullins’ gelding improved rapidly during the 2011-12 campaign, when he was a novice and won six times including a hat-trick at the backend of the season.
That trio of successes began with a 20/1 victory under Tony McCoy at Cheltenham and the eight-year-old then followed up in Grade 2 and Grade 1 novice company at Fairyhouse and Punchestown respectively.
With time not on the horse’s side, Mullins has decided to send him straight over fences rather than pursue a Champion Hurdle bid and is pleased with the way Alderwood has schooled.
“He’s shaping up well,” said Mullins. “He summered very well. He jumped nicely and I was very pleased with him.
He'll obviously need a few more sessions before a race though.
“We took him to the Curragh. They have fantastic schooling grounds there and the ground was beautiful. He just popped over a few baby fences with Mark Walsh.
“I expect it will be mid-November before he makes his debut.”
Alderwood is owned by J P McManus and he sparked a fantastic day for the Irishman and his retained jockey McCoy when winning the County Hurdle on March 16.
Two races later, the duo also collected the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Synchronised, who tragically was killed next time out in the Grand National.

Money down on this for Saturday, 25s when books opened!
Obviously the money has come but a large part of that may be due to ROR and Darlans doubtful participation. 25/1 was a ridculous price when the race could end up with 3 or 4 runners and a big well done to anyone who got on
He may well win on Saturday but could never see him winning a champion hurdle.
Hope he's fairly well beaten then they change plans and go chasing 
Trifolium probably ran below his best but last years supreme novices looks rubbish now. None of that lot will be winning a champion hurdle.
Wanted him to be beat so they might consider going chasing, but that was an awful run, i'd say it was too bad to be true but it's already happened once this season
